Oops... hee! My bad.
Apologies to my friends at the DJ. I guess it's not so interesting, after all.
Ok - next topic, then... Which firm is more likely to disintegrate: Fenwick or Pillsbury?

I'm so out of the loop.
Is Fenwick hurting that badly? Didn't they just pick up some Cisco work?
As for Pillsbury, they are trying to salvage the Chevron relationship after getting Pepin back as of counsel, and I wonder when the current management will be shown the door, especially after all that embarassment (and settlement costs) from the Jensen debacle. Still, I don't see them disintergrating anytime too soon. But what the hell do I know.

Boy, I must've missed that aisle. I was too busy picking up those great bumper stickers to stick on random cars.
Anyone know what kind of car Tower drives?

Really? What's going on at Fenwick? I thought that, despite paying a rather substantial sum of money for their new offices, they were doing just fine. As fine, perhaps, as any firm could do post Tucker Max.
So, spill the beans!

Months ago, my friends there were saying "nah, come on in - the water is fine here" about Fenwick. Apparently the water was being laced with nitrous then and is now filtered because their smiles are not as bright and responses to "so how are things" are whispers of "they're ok" and stories of partners who are nervously walking the hallways, trying not to hoard the work even though they aren't busy.
Nothing earth shattering, just a perception I get that a lot of people there are starting to unravel.

If that is our threshold for when a firm is about to blow up, what firm in Silicon Valley is not about to blow up? Everyone I know has the same problem, corporate and IP partners and associates who are not busy and who show up at work every day hoping they don't get the dreaded knock on the door with a severance check and release agreement. In addition, almost every firm is looking for merger partners but not much seems to be coming out of the discussions. I wonder if the buyers are not interested, if the sellers want to much or both.

Well mine, of course. ;-)
It's a low threshold, granted. I've just been surprised at the change in morale there. Perhaps they'll slog through and be fine, I certainly have no crystal ball. After all, I thought Brobeck might still be around.

c2ed, I'm concerned about you. It was 10:00 a.m. when you posted and you're talking about happy hour. I think we need to start limiting the alcohol intake, okay? The children are getting scared.

The Death of Brobeck
Here's a story in The American Lawyer about what Brobeck did wrong:

This may have been posted here before, but I can't remember.

Geez Flinty, perhaps you don't know duced as well as you think. Usually it takes three Bloody Mary's just to get her out of bed in the morning.

Whatever, banana boy. Sometimes people go to happy hour to see their friends, not to drink.

Denial? Anger?
I'm only trying to help out a friend.
Have a good one...
