The ROTFLMAO was obnoxious. FWIW.

Thinking back, I don't know that I was on Yahoo at all. I am Such. A. Newber.

Just now you're admitting it? That is big of you.

When I drop my daughter at her dorm there are dozens of supposedly smart kids out front (no smoking dorm) smoking. How the fuck can someone put a cigarette in their mouth anymore?
Sorry, Hank. That's a shit sandwich. I hope he went fast and as painlessly as one can under those circumstances.

BUT, and this is a big but... I know many folks alive today who've smoked like chmineys for years. It's genetic roullette.

On one side of my family there's a liver disorder that sinks you young.* I decided a long time ago life wihtout drinks ain't worth living. I'm betting I don't have that gene.

*And alcoholism. But shit... whose family doesn't have that?

I'm pretty sure this has been a common subtext for a long time - something I only learned long after the fact (comments on GA get-togethers, trips etc. long before I'd ever met anyone in person). So perhaps you didn't notice it (I know I didn't). But so what?

That's probably true. But what's the big deal about making inside comments? Cast the first stone, and all that (which, I realize, you admitted).

They can be a bit obnoxious, but some are pretty funny. In Shifty's current predicament, I think they're pretty funny.

I'm just saying, it's really annoying, and commenting to Shifty that on this board, the inside stuff from off the board has formed a large proportion of his posts of late.

I am not under any illusion that me expressing a dislike of something is going to stop it from happening, particularly on the boards.
I was commenting on something that happened on another board, but I am not inside enough to have read it, so I can't really be making an inside joke because I'm on the outside.

Hank -

You looked at the girls in your daughter's dorm, right? They still walk around braless, in t shirts and low riding sweat pants?

Do you have a camera phone?

Speaking of which, are you pursuing this? I believe you should, if for nothing else than anecdotes for the board. Get on this, please.

That doesn't make a difference. Half the people laughing at jokes here are laughing for the wrong reasons anyway. The funniest posts are those by people who think they're laughing at an inside joke.

The comedy here is kind of backwards - its all about the disconnects instead of the usual revelatory punchlines that drive most humor.

Paging Gatti

I just got off of the phone w/ someone who saw Oliver and said it was wonderful. Has stardom gone to the Gaplet's head yet?

Too weird. I was thinking the exact same thing when gazing at your teethmarks on my pillow last night.
