Guess what? There is no secret meaning behind 99% of everything you read or see. Chaucer, Shakespeare, Faulkner, James, Yeats, Lenny Bruce, Bobcat Golthwait, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Motley Crue, Alice in Wonderland, the Wizard of Oz and just about every other enteratiner/entertainment through history has been exactly what it purposrts to be - ENTERTAINMENT. Some pathetic people can't live with this simplicity, so they find subplots and ejaculate idiot theories about hidden subplots or political undertones. Those people are idiots. Like David Gilmour once said when asked about hidden messages on Dark Side of the Moon, "Its all just fucking pop music."
There's a staggering amount of secret (poor word choice) meaning in Shakespeare. Or more precisely, double meaning.

I take it you slept through the subtext lecture when you were working on your creative writing degree?

I read somewhere that Depp based his character's strange mannerisms on Keith Richards. Seems pretty believable.

She's rolling her eyes because the entire "is Keira Knightley hot" discussion started with -- try to stay with me here -- Paigow's post about -- are you sitting down? -- Pirates of the Caribbean.

And I know you're going to say you don't have time to catch up, but save it. The price of not catching up is eye rolling and, if somebody is in the mood, a condescending and unnecessary to everyone else but you explanation of the eye rolling.

I read in Advocate that some people think he was "acting gay." But Advocate liked it so not sure what the article I skimmed over was getting at.

I think it's true that Depp based his character on Richards. Did Richards sleep with Jagger or is that someone else?

YEs, you really should devote more attention to this board, and do you work only when no one is posting.

I was also trying to figure out who he sounded like -- thank you.

Now that I think of it, when Capt. Jack became a skeleton, the transformation into Keef was complete.

Even at his most strung out, I don't think Keith ever slept with men. Jagger did sleep with David Bowie, or so it was said. Possibly Pete Townshend, too, although I think Townshend might have said he just wanted to fuck him.

on almanacs and duct tape

I sorta kinda understand why the FBI would be looking for someone with a lot of information about the US in a handy book, but an APB on everyone carrying an almanac? Three days before New Years? I've seen the damned things in every bookstore and most grocery stores in the last four weeks, and they seem to be a hot ticket item. Hell, I almost sent one to my grandmother for Christmas. Yeah, I can see maybe in the middle of June if you see someone studying The Old Farmer's Almanac, you'd be a bit suspicious. But in late December the things are selling like hotcakes, and little old ladies are looking up when is the best time to plant petunias and whether or not it will rain on their grandson's birthdays and whether or not it looks like it will be a good year to make that trip out west to see their daughter.

Sheesh. Next thing you know, they'll be telling me that I'll be safe from anthrax if only I had plastic and duct tape.

Keeping you in a constant state of fear is the goal...

Of course. Because you'll die of suffocation in your sealed room before anthrax ever has a chance to threaten your health.
