On the other hand, would you want the reporter who covers brittney spears giving you insightful election analysis? that would be like having al roker covering something other than weather and barbecue.

I don't really even quibble with it being news of some sort. Maybe even the first story in the Entertainment section. However, I expect my Breaking News! to be important enought for the tagline. Like, for example, "Breaking News! Two Commercial Airliners Smash Into World Trade Center" or "Breaking News! Saddam Hussein Found Guilty; Sentenced to Die" or "Breaking News! Democrats Regain Control of the House". I'll even put up with some stories of lesser importance grabbing the Breaking News! Banner. Like "Breaking News! Scott Peterson Found Guilty" or "Breaking News! Ronald Reagan Dead at 105".
But really. Breaking News! to tell us that Britney has finally dumped her two-bit backup dancer, um, I mean hip hop mogul husband? Because we can't wait to learn this for the 5 minutes it would take to put together a story? All they had to do was write 3 sentences (1. how long they were married; 2. names and ages of kids; 3. existence of prenup) and link to the LA court filing.
Breaking News! Pink Sings New Monday Night Football Theme!
Breaking News! Black Leggings To Be Popular This Fall!
Shit, I should write for cnn.

Is this an email that you get, or from what shows up when you go to cnn.com? (Yes, I just went to cnn.com, and no, it did not have a breaking news thing, but it could have back when you posted about this.)

It was a banner on the top of cnn.com. That's fast response time to ncs's complaints.

it is "breaking news" on fox.com. I think she just didn't want to admit where she had seen it.
Fringey and all LA people. I will need a recommendation for a really nice hotel on the ocean in OC. Should have suites with kitchenettes. you have several months to find this.

They know I am a Very Important Person Whose Views Should Not Be Disregarded. Either that or someone in the news business actually works there and told the schlubs running the place to take it down and just write that three sentence article about it already.

THe nicest hotel on the beach in OC is Montage (in Laguna Beach). It seems unlikely to me that it has kitchenettes, but I'm sure there are nicely stocked minibars!

Breaking News! CNN.com must rush to report to you that Britney Spears has filed for divorce from Kevin Federline, citing irreconcilable differences! Full story as soon as it is available!
Thank god they have resources devoted to covering this story. I would have thought maybe the whole election day thing might have been keeping them busy.

They have the option for you to sign up for a cnn breaking news automatic email.
I don't know why anyone is annoyed/surprised wondering at the appropriateness of classifying this as "breaking news"
we've turned into a culture rabid for celebrity sound bites we've created this monster. it is ours to keep

Good? Morning Frustration

1. Yes. Of course. Because in your world, the only alternative to Al Roker is Stephen A. Smith. I guess if you're black and have an opinion you're automatically loud and overbearing. What a stupid thing to say.
Katie had an opinion. Matt asks "tough" questions. Why should I expect less from Al?
I guess you like your weathermen like you athletes. Quiet, hat in hand and thankful for what they're "given."

Is this the same reason why you continue to post here? We somehow created you by sitting by and watching your train-wreck TM-related meltdown and now we're stuck with you?
