Because we have a hell of a team on the field when they're managed right.

I'm perfectly willing to put half the blame on Pedro for last year, but last night Terry did what he does worst - managing pitchers. I was yelling to yank Timlin last night before he gave up the last couple - you could see what was going on. And your points on Schilling are exactly right. In a game where the offense scores 8 and the manager just sits there and doesn't do anything until after the disasters happen, though, I put Francona's blame first.
Okay. I agree that Francona was a big part of why you guys lost last night. But after the game Schilling said he would not pitch again in the series if he felt the way he did today. He knew he wasn't effective probably from pitch 1. He knew what he was throwing. If you're going to hurt your team or are in the process of hurting your team, signal to your manager (whether he's in a coma or not) and ask to be removed from the game. All you have to do is limp a little bit and out you come and no one questions your heart.

Duque was straight up with Torre at the end of the season. He said, "My arm feels dead," and he said it because he doesn't want to hurt the team. He gave Torre the definitive answer he needed to make the absolute right decision.

Here's a question for you, Mr. Dad. If you are with your kids and you happen upon a couple engaging in a minor PDA, say they are looking at a view and one person is holding the other one, would you walk the other way with the kids, walk past and say nothing, completely disappear from the area? How do parents deal with this generally?
Since the most common form of PDA they see occurs between me and the mom-figure, they're just used to it. The younger ones get all "eeewwwww, gross!", while the older ones just grin knowingly. (Well, they don't actually do the "eeww, gross" thing when it's strangers - they're polite, at least - but you can tell they're thinking it.)

I ask because this weekend we had a family stop dead in their tracks when they saw Mrs. Eaze holding me while we were looking at a lake, they stared at us in horror and then completely disappeared from the entire area.
I think you've been told about working on your wardrobe.

I am wondering is this because it was two women and they didn't want to explain to little Timmy the concept of why two women would be holding each other (which by the way I do understand) or just a general response of some parents to PDA?
Some people hate hamburgers, some like 'em. I imagine if the parents are homophobes, or just anti-PDA, that's what the kids learn, too. I have a neighbor who gets completely roiled at the thought of the local high school teens parking anywhere near our neighborhood. Our kids have a gay aunt, and a gay "uncle" (i.e., not really a relative, but close.) They've seen PDA's in every combination. The youngers give the "eewww, gross!" reaction equally to mixed or matched pairs. The elders grin knowingly at both. No biggie to them.

I know we discussed this but I wasn't paying real close attention so I am boring you by asking again. What can be done with a wedding ring that no longer serves its purpose? Assume one does not want to pawn it, since it is worth a nice chunk, and does not want to convert it into other jewelry. Assume one simply wants to sell it to get the money. Ideas? Is one SOL?

Perhaps separate the stone and the setting and sell them separately?

Unless a celebritney was involved, in which case, auction it on ebay.

EBay, pawn shop (but you'll get ripped off), I see lots of them in the classified section of the newpaper.
Ebay jewelry section

I don't know who buys used rings, but there seem to be bunches of them.

I don't know what city you are in, but in Boston there are two diamond exchange buildings, where literally you can go door to door and get bids on something from the professional jewlers. I think you can pretty much do the same in the diamond district in NY. But having never had to dispose of such, I can't give you any more insight into the process.

If you go to the NY one, maybe TM can help.
