Muslim whining of the day, part 67

Not even ballpark. Try again.

I believe they stone rape victims and circumcize young females in Mecca. Does that count?

You think any of these things are remotely relevant to whether a student at Northwestern can make a polite request for a place to pray?

Well, let's see.....

Christmas is no longer a national holiday, is it?

You never see crosses in public anymore.

They stopped putting big Christmas trees in prominent places, like the White House and Rock. Center.

Christians are now a distinct minority in government.

The calendar has been changed so that the normal work-week includes Sunday, so that most people can have Friday, the Muslim holy day, off.

Or that's the way things are, in Slave-land.

I don't want any of our Muslim friends to miss out on the next K race or Patentpara pile-on just because they happen to be praying.

Are you okay if they stop to pray, and they do it in a clean place?

Or, perhaps you just forgot to post the part ofthe story where the Northwestern students were asking for game times to be changed.

P.S. This is a semi-respectable argument, although Penske's federal funds argument is better, and I certainly wouldn't be upset if the arena/university declined the request for either reason. But your sheer vitriol undermines your argument, and speaks to something deeper.

{edited to delete insult -- because saying it once is enough -- and to provide substantive response}

You give Slave's point -- "And every time a concession is made - like building a prayer room in an Athletic Arena - it only means a broader request is soon to follow." -- far too much credit.

First, no one asked for any one to "build a prayer room." They asked if there was a quiet and clean place where they could pray (and if not, "no big deal").

Second, the "a broader request is soon to follow" line is bullshit. If Northwestern denies the prayer room will al Qaeda stop demanding to turn the world back to the Caliphate? Of course not. Some people make reasonable requests (and respond reasonbly if they are denied). Some people are evil and radical and insane. And some people are in between. But suggesting that one leads to another is absurd -- muslims were making "broader requests" a long time before this Northwestern student came along.

Third, even if a broader request were to follow, so what? You address that request on its merits. By Slave's "logic," we should forbid anyone from wearing a crucifix in public -- because next they'll demand to put a huge rock with the 10 Commandments in every courtroom. We should not let a Jew wear a yarmulke in court -- because, first, Christians are so oppressed in this country, and second, next the dirty Jew will demand to pour lamb's blood on the judge's desk.

Slave's "clash of cultures" argument is old, old news. People in this country said that about Jews, Catholics, southern Europeans, eastern Europeans, Chinese, etc etc etc. I guess muslims are just the newest nigger -- no individual is bad, they just all are.

Sorry, all, for the serial posting. I'm listening to MCLE tapes, trying to keep my license past 1/31. And it's goddamn dull.

Just about all educational institutions get some federal grant money. And if you don't like the way your tax dollars are being spent blame it on your party-members who, until very recently, controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress.

No. And I saw your apology. Which I appreciate.

Especially since you didn't just claim it was a typo.

And I am against it in all cases. As for the last congress, irrelevant, in the same way Bush, president for 8 months following 8 years of Clinton's crimes, neglect, treason, destruction of the military/intelligence agencies and appeasement of terrorists, was responsible for 911, I hold Pelosi responsible for the wasteful spending appropriations of Congress. It's time for her to put up or go home.

It affects my life because I'm sitting here on the deck of the Titantic watching the PC police continue to destroy the culture of this country.

A country where it is no only absolutely acceptable, but proper - to treat Christianity with utter contempt, while everday we see more pandering to the incessant and unending complaints from Muslims who insist on preferential treatment.

From the buffoons at Pace University treating the finding of a Koran in a bathroom - a friggin book - as a "hate crime", to good ole' boy John Conyers trying to pass legislation making it a crime to offend Muhammad, it just never ends.

And every time a concession is made - like building a prayer room in an Athletic Arena - it only means a broader request is soon to follow.

But hey, why bother worrying about any of this. It's not as if they starting asking us dhimmis to pay them jizyah. Yet.
I'm sorry, but I really don't see where Christianity is treated with utter contempt in a country where the members of Congress, the President, military personnel, witnesses, jurors, etc. are sworn in with an oath to God to uphold their duty.

I'm also fairly certain that many college teams still engage in a shortt team prayer before each game.

So drop the bullshit about any threat to Christianity and admit your problem is just blind unthinking hate.

Yes, but . . . it seems to me that setting up a "prayer room" in the basketball arena is not a particularly good idea. Not because the folks asking for it are douchebags, terrorists, zionists, crusaders or scientologists. Because setting up "sacred" space in an otherwise a-religious facility that no one is present at other than completely voluntarily (i.e. not a workplace) is just not the way America works.

So a few people have to choose between honoring their religious beliefs and attending a basketball game--where does that stop? Do all college football games need to be moved from Saturday afternoons? What about Friday night high school football?
I'm pretty sure that the tradition of playing HS football on Friday nights came about because there wasn't room in the schedule to play all games on Saturday and there wasn't any way in Hell they were going to allow play on Sunday.
