I, too, feel I may be missing out on something. What is this "PM"? Do you need a special computer or anything?

I was going with the whole Coltrane/corn star thread, but this takes the, ahem, taco.

The incredible sapping of will and self-respect I've seen in a lot of "family men" in this business just depresses me. Too many guys end up seeing themselves as cash cows supporting women and children and a lifestyle they don't particularly get to enjoy. And they are fucking trapped, slaves to the expectations of their families (and, in all honesty, of themselves, though the results when they wake up try to get out of it are often catastrophic).

What IS it with you people? Broad caricature (that's the correct spelling, by the way)? Men buy into the "system" you describe just as much as any "arm candy woman" or whatever stupid term you're using. They figure, they make the money (and still make, what 1.6x? as much as women in the same jobs, meaning they have a better chance at making more money) so they call the shots. The "system" devalues a woman's contribution at home (and believe me, staying home with kids is no vacation) but the father gets the benefit of having the stay-at-home wife too (however intangible) and the power (the "hand") in the relationship.
Men buy into the "status symbol" of having a stay-at-home wife, and buy into the "I have a bigger dick if I make more money" theory -- so spare me the "it's all the fault of those money-grubbing bitches."
I can't remember when I've been more disgusted (not in a corn/analingus way -- that is a different kind of disgust). The attitudes people (i) have about and (ii) ascribe to, women/mothers who don't work outside the home is depressingly eye-opening.
Edited to add: Thrashers Fan said it here more succinctly (pithily?) and without the outrage -- which I wish I could have done. Oh well.

Coltrane. Word from the wise. I am mostly sure that the board will agree that I am mainly correct when I say that you cannot say things like a 22yo supermodel is chicago deep dish and a 35yo woman is a pizza hut spinster, and make jokes about a forty year old woman , and then turn around and make a comment like this one that is quoted Though you might think, or at least post hoc, that you were kidding on the spinster post and the forty yo woman post, there is obviously truth in your views on women in there. Bc of that, you cant make a comment like this one and have it be seen as a funny joke. What is truly sad is that you probably dont get what you did wrong (as evidenced by further making age jokes re women).
THis post is serious by the way.

Now, if the irritation of wearing the sock were to be suffered by other people rather than yourself, my little story would be analogous to Just For Fun's reemergence as Not Me.

Yes. But in addition to the sock scrunching problem, the other, good sock always disappears. And since I buy a bunch of the same socks at once, I invariably end up with two scrunchy socks, while the good ones are laughing their asses off somewhere, sipping pina coladas, on vacation from my feet.

Yes, if what you're referring to is the tantric position. No, if it's not. There's no money in farming anymore. It's all gone offshore to Colombia.

While I agree with you and share your sentiments, I am surprised at what appears to be surprise on your part that the people who post on the FB have these attitudes. Have you been reading the posts here long? Although some are mildly entertaining and most are fairly bright, you have to admit that you are not walking amongst the enlightened here.

Not to interrupt a fine, well-stoked rant, because I generally agree with most of what you're saying, but, I mean, WTF?!
I'm supposed to have the power? The POWER? You mean, beyond the power to get up at five, drive, work, drive, and get home at six? And then help with homework, houseshit, and whatever? And fix the mower, and the drains, and the roof, and the kids, and . . .
That's it, then. I'm marching home tonight and demanding that I get me some of that POWER.
Maybe she'll really let me have some.
Yeah, right.
