I'm not saying you shouldn't do it because it's a nice thing to do. I'm saying it because it should be done by PM or IM. If you're telling the world it's someone's birthday, but can't say who because that would out them, what's the point in telling the world? And it usually brings up a bunch of "Happy Birthday, whoever you are" responses from the dim-witted as well.

But if you don't want boring back and forth on [insert controversial topic here], why did you become a lawyer? Isn't that what we do (minus the controversy most times) all day at work? You have to assume it'll happen here.

That said, I disagree with you. I like the back and forth. I like to see where people stand and I like to read posts about topics that people actually care about. It often gets out of hand (yeah, I notice the glare I'm getting from all of you fuckers), but that's the price we pay for expressing our opinions.

What exactly do you want on this board if you eliminate controversial topics? And don't say fashion.

It was obviously a joke, as are my age jokes. In fact, it's a running joke that YOU started. You make fun of me for being a young, immature, horny frat boy, and I respond with an eldery joke for you. In fact, the only occasions I make age jokes are in reaction to your "kegger" jokes*. I don't go out of my way to make them. In fact, I don't recall ever posting about you or to you (post crush) unless you posted something to me or about me first. So, indirectly, you're perpetuating my jokes. The FB blames YOU.

Less, you know I never lie.

And you know I'm hot IRL, too.

Like I said, you don't get it which is what makes it so much worse. Next time I won't try to warn you off.

Bc of that, you cant make a comment like this one and have it be seen as a funny joke. What is truly sad is that you probably dont get what you did wrong (as evidenced by further making age jokes re women).

THis post is serious by the way.
I thought it was funny, but I have no credibility.

Look at this here post. At the bottom, there's a button marked "PM." If you click on that button, you will be taken to a screen where you can send a message that will go to me, reptile to reptile, and to no one else. It is a so-called Private Message. You can also access your PM in-box through the "User CP" button to the top of the screen.

Some people have set up their account so that they cannot receive PMs. These people are very silly, except Penske, who is an unappreciated genius. You can also select different ways to be notified of a new PM -- I recommend a separate pop-up window.

The "system" devalues a woman's contribution at home (and believe me, staying home with kids is no vacation) but the father gets the benefit of having the stay-at-home wife too (however intangible) and the power (the "hand") in the relationship.
I disagree somewhat. In general, what you say is true (in BigLaw, women make what men make (until you get to partnership track), women make less than men. But you're talking to the wrong men, missy.

If you choose to marry someone other than a lawyer (or someone making a bunch of cash), it does not make sense for you to stop working. I would quit this job in a second and stay at home with my daughter if that were an option. But my loans, her loans, the rent and the other bills ain't gonna get paid on her salary. And you know what? Most men couldn't do that even if their wife did make as much cash because there is that "special bond" between a mother and child that trumps whatever pathetic little bond men think they have with their kids.

So it ain't always as cut and dried as you seem to think it is. Men and women both get stuck in positions they don't want to be in sometimes. But they should both suck it up until they can change it for the better. It's called responsibility.

At this point, I feel compelled to disclose that, other than Atticus, whose taste is in his ass, I have never been declared hot IRL. I have, however, been decreed FB Cool on more than one occasion and by more than one fashionista.

But I concur that Sidd is hot.

Oh, you should SOOOO not go there.

Ah, I over-simplified. I like discussions controversial issues (especially when they trigger Jane Austen to drop the F-bomb multiple times in one post); I just find that they can become tiresome after awhile.

The [insert controversial topic here] comment wasn't intended to be my response to Paigow's poll. Rather, my point was that my "Happy Birthday" messages to anonymous posters can't be as annoying as reading the 800th post in the thread about Tiger Woods and the sociological implications of his boinking of white women only. But maybe they are to you. To-may-toe, etc.

Men buy into the "status symbol" of having a stay-at-home wife, and buy into the "I have a bigger dick if I make more money" theory -- so spare me the "it's all the fault of those money-grubbing bitches."

I can't remember when I've been more disgusted (not in a corn/analingus way -- that is a different kind of disgust). The attitudes people (i) have about and (ii) ascribe to, women/mothers who don't work outside the home is depressingly eye-opening.

Edited to add: Thrashers Fan said it here more succinctly (pithly?) and without the outrage -- which I wish I could have done. Oh well.
Men don't have a stitch of power. Fuck, I've been controlled by chicks my whole life, and I'll be controlled by chicks until I die. Its a fact of being a man. They're the gatekeepers. How many rich ego-maniac super-partners have you seen fleeced by some hot piece of ass into leaving his wife and kids and then whacked by his wife and kids for a settlement which ensures he'll never be able to retire? Men - especially the toolish sort who comprise a lot the men in this field - are slaves to their appetities. We chase women are whole lives like cats chasing string. I sometimes think women get together and discuss how they really control the world behind our backs.
