Of course I watched, but I didn't vote.

Carrie did suck, and Randy's comment about her pitch was dead on (unlike her intonation). Simon's right, that the hard-core country fans will love her. However, if she wants to appeal to a wider audience, she's got to cover country songs with some crossover appeal, a la Dixie Chicks or at least Shania Twain. Martina McBride (whose songs I have only ever heard as covers on American Idol) will not cut it.

Vonzell gets points for ambition (and for how cute it was when her tough-looking brother cried while talking about her), but she still has some pretty serious lack-of-control issues.

Scott plain old sucked. And his Aaron Neville wobble was the worst I've heard it.

Anthony was also deep into suckitude. I could not believe they complimented him on his high notes, which to me sounded pinched. There is nothing interesting or noteworthy about his singing or his stage presence.

Constantine picked the wrong song--too repetitive and too narrow in melodic range. When he did the little scream at the end (those are hard to do and have them sound good--if you've ever tried you know), I was wishing he'd started doing that way earlier in the song. He also gets points off for having a creepy-looking older brother, but that's compensated for by his sassy mother and her wisecracks about how difficult he was as a teenager.

Bo does need to lose the sunglasses, and I thought the dashiki look was, well, interesting. But there's not much else negative I can say. He's a nice guy and a great performer, comfortable on the stage, blah blah blah. I just wish he had more sex appeal.

I think Scott goes, but then, I said that last week.

Oh, and Str8 - Constantine took a big hit in the odds after last night's sucky attempt at Nickelback (or whatever god-awful hard rock band's "tune" he was covering it was).

Generic AI question (I don't watch it): It's just a giant kareoke contest isn't it?

I mean, what makes record producers think that by listening to people sing other people's songs they'll know who is actually talented enough to produce their own music? I understand the "we'll make them a star by broadcasting them into millions of living rooms around the country" portion, but I guess I'm missing the element that record companies typically are striving for - who has the talent and drive to create their own style, which will catch on with the audiences. Oh, wait, maybe I'm just thinking of what record producers should be striving for.

At the concert on Saturday night, Jeff Tweedy implored Wilco fans not to vote for anyone who does the finger raising with their microphones. He gave a little visual demonstration, just so we were all clear on what musical tics he can't stand.

Jesus fucking Christ.

Besides, if there is nothing on the registry that someone can afford left, they will get you something they think you will like. And we all know how that goes.

Friends of mine registered for Mountain Dew and Gatorade. They also asked for gift certificates for Sox/Celtics tickets and white water rafting. They had lived together for several years so they had all the house stuff that you usually see on registries.

If I ever get engaged, would it be bad form to register for a keg-er-ator (or gift certificates towards one)?

Splurge on the keg-er-ator. It will increase your chances on getting engaged in the first place.

Holy pecs, Batman!

More Batman Begins photos here.

What's shocking about this is the difference between Batman Bale and The Machinist Bale. Damn.

They just want another straight guy (jocks preferred) to get together with them to jack off. No Gays.
Don't get me started on LA Craigslist. Though it's nice to know that if my renovations get too pricey, or if I make too many stupid NBA bets, I can pick up some extra money receiving blowjobs. What a world in which we live.

Is Congress planning on investigating the use of steriods among the Hollywood crowd?

I suspect that a discussion of your feelings about LA's Craigslist would have been more interesting.

I know I'm late to this. It's because I was thinking about a plate of shrimp yesterday, and then all of a sudden, somebody said "plate," or "shrimp," or "plate of shrimp." And it blew my mind.
