And now for something completely different.

First the don't bother with the downhill bike tour on Haleakala, which is probably the one you did. Far more worthwhile to get up just as early, go to the summit to watch the sun rise, and then hike into the crater for a few hours, rather than pedal around in the parking lot for two hours, waiting your your peleton's 5-minute slot to leave.

I've never watched Fear Factor, but from the commercials it appears to consist primarily of camera shots of enormous, wet breasts on skinny girls. Which makes me wonder why I've never watched it, now that I think about it.

Str8, what are the releases like for shows like that? If somebody gets killed or seriously injured, what kind of liability is NBC looking at?

A recent study in Jama says it's harder to detect breast cancer through mammography when a woman has implants. So the local news covers the story, and opens with stock footage of womens' boobs, mostly in bikini tops, many of which are obviously not implants, and some of which are. This footage, while ridiculous, is vastly preferable to the stock footage of the abdomens and behinds of overweight people, which they always trot out for the latest story on the obesity epidemic or the death of Dr. Atkins or the Southwest Airlines policy.

The stock footage of body parts always makes me wonder whether the mere fact that the person's face isn't shown means the person has no control over the use of images of his or her body. Or is is just because they're walking around in public? Or is filler used by news programs considered not to be for pecuniary gain? This manufactured stuff just seems different from actual news coverage. Anybody?

Upset? Down Under!

What's the current spoiler standard? Something caught my eye in headlines about the Australian and I want to know if any of you tennis luvas (HI PP!) caught the match.

timely question! remember breasticle day? Well Pretty Little Flower used his moderator position to download one of the photos- who knew leagl shouldn't have trusted him? He is selling it on the internet, plus at lunch hour on the streets of Minneapolis.

It was the one photo, you know. Well when ncs found out- she brought a lawsuit "for a friend." she's asking for a writ of "hocus pocus." hearing is set for Thursday AM!

Haven't seen it, they didn't show it last night/this morning - they save the good one for tape delay in the afternoon. I'm looking forward to catching the highlights tonight. Yes, I've been watching - Damn these long hours and short deadlines!

Well anything can happen, but right now the Lightning have 6 points up on the Thrash, plus three games in hand, so you need to make up 8-10 points on them in 30 games, which ain't gonna be easy. As for whether they can catch the Isle, or the Habs, that's a different story. I'd say it's likely that they will if they get hot (I think Montreal's about to fall into slumpsville). But even with that, you're talking about playing the Leafs, Flyers, Devils or Sens in the first round, and that's a very tall order.

I hope the East playoff seeding ends up:

Toronto
Philly
Tampa
Ottawa
Boston
New Jersey
Montreal
Atlanta

But I think it's going to end up
Philly
Ottawa
Tampa
New Jersey
Toronto
Boston
Islanders
Atlanta

In which case the Leafs are fucking fucked.
Ahem. Trust me, the Rangers will right this ship and get in.

The return of the Heater is what we need to turn things around. Many other injured players are returning. We shall overcome.

I will do something special at the game on Friday just for you -- look for me, baby.

Holy crap. Problem is that I don't have the Center Ice package. But I might head over to Barney's Beanery to watch the game; the wife's at a baby shower and our Travis tickets aren't until 8:00.

Reality TV News Flash:
Fox has finished principal photography on a reality show in which a 4'5" bachelor begins by dating a dozen little women; at one point, there's an Average-Joe type schism where he has to decide whether to date little women, or average-height women.

As a devoted fan of the midget rodeo, and other similar attractions, I am so there.

Yep. How about the Ford Mustang II? Or the Pontiac Aztek? Or the Porsche 914? Or the Cadillac Cimmaron?
