TiVo versus the digital cable DVR

Let's say golf is on the schedule from 3-6. The DVR will stop recording precisely at 6, even if there is a playoff and it goes until 6:15. This has annoyed my husband on more than one occasion. Does tivo record until the end, even if unscheduled?

I thought Tivo did this also?

Much covered, but Tina's version just hits it from all directions.

Never heard it. I think I'm a purist when it comes to Stand By Your Man -- the Tanya Tucker (is that it?) or Dolly Parton versions are what I think of for that tune.
Now everyone can make fun of me as I tell you the cover song that I like: the Cure's version of Purple Haze. (That's probably soooo some-year-other-than-now, but whatever.)

No more VU covers, please, unless done live. Having said that, I enjoyed JA's cover of Rock and Roll, but maybe only because it was recorded live.

No, you're not a purist. Somewhere, Tammy's crying.

Her heart may be pure, but pure what?

I assume that after that incident last year your husband sat you down for a music education.
If he didn't, I'd bet your horse trainer can help.
|
How did you know he's in a band? (My horse trainer, not my husband, alas.)
Once when we were out riding, it was getting dark, and I said something about how there's nothing quite like a chemical sunset (unlike the one we were looking at), and he asked if he could use that as the name of his band.
I was so glad to help...

I knew it was a "Trashy T" name -- give me a break, man!
(Apologies to anyone names Tanya or Tammy on the vaunted BoC -- that's Board of Class -- the FB.)

That reminds me that my favorite cover ever live was a band called Reverend Ken & the Lost Followers covering D-I-V-O-R-C-E. This was while Washboard Hank was still one of the lost followers (I know none of you have any idea who I'm referring to, but they were good. Sometimes Ronnie Hawkins would join them at the Red Dog when he was in town). They were sort of punk-country, before punk-country really came into its own.
and the best cover I've seen that you will have some idea to whom I am referring is Neil Young covering Crazy. Chills up my spine.

BTW, a new Dolly Parton tribute album came out a few months ago, and I'm liking it. Melissa Ethridge, Sinead O'Connor, Norah Jones, Joan Osborne, Alison Krauss.
I love Dolly Parton. She has one of my favorite quotes of all time: "I made a lot of money, and I need a lot of money, because it costs a lot of money to look this cheap."
She covered Stairway to Heaven a few years ago.

Horse trainers are all the same.
I thought about becoming a horse trainer once. But then I realized I didn't want to be slinging horseshit constantly.

For some inexplicable reason, this reminded me that I really liked Elvis Costello's cover (with Burt Bacharach) of I'll Never Fall In Love Again.
