F'ing Macy's is discontinuing all kinds of good lines, particularly in petites, where I get about half my things. And RP's right, the atmosphere in Macy's sucks. It's like a barely upscaled KMart. Garish, like their logo.
I have never liked Macy's - I thought mabye it was the enormity of the store - the flagship in NYC is effing HUGE. But all that crap you just said are probably the bigger reasons.

Oh My God

Make it stop. The women's fashion talk. I'm sorry I brought up Macy's.

These TITS* should make up for it.

I don't know how people can stand to work there. It's one thing to put up with Christmas music from Columbus Day on, but to be blasted out of your ears every day is intolerable.
I can't be as bad as Abercrombe and Bitch. Where the music is so loud that outside the store and in another store you can still hear it.

I have been to 3 separate Nordstroms in the past 3 months (in 2 states) and can say with confidence that Ralph was not among the brands in any of the petite department. They had full size Ralph in other departments. The one by my house had Ann Klein for awhile, but a very limited selection.

I shop only in Faconnable, Savvy and Studio 121 now.

Maybe I should go to LA.
Faconnable is nice. Nice flagship store on 5th

I always hated it, except I loved when the flower show was on. But I worked within a block or two of Saks, and the lunchtime shoe sale shopping was fantastic. They had nice flowers, too. Actually, I think one of their arrangements inspired the choice of flowers I used at my wedding.

(sorry, Coltrane, but those tits do not compare with shoe memories)

Ah, Ames... we hardly knew ye.

(I ran into Kevin Bacon at the local Ames when it was on its last legs -- he was getting cut-rate cleaning products, iIrc.)

I don't like the one on the right, relatively speaking.

I don't know if Marshall Field's had previously become part of one of the department store behemoths, but our local store that just became a Macy's (Meier & Frank) had been a May store. Back in the day when it was independent, M&F was pretty cool, but under May it became total CRAP. The Macy's store brands are better than the May store brands (especially when it comes to housewares--I have some items from the Herald Square Cellar that are going strong 10 years after leaving NYC), so I'll probably be heading back at least to check it out.

I do semi-regularly shop at Nordstrom, and when I was working next door I'd pop into Saks to peruse the sale racks (they marked things down further than Nordstrom did before sending them off to Off Fifth v. The Rack).

Funny -- I have the opposite view. Probably because the TITS on the right is a little outlandishly big.

You can me the wife to my Jack Spratt. Let's start licking that plate clean.

Yeah, I think so. I tried that once, for 3 days in San Diego.

I'll stick with my previously stated preferences.
