You know I love you, platonically (except for that night in Houston before you found out I voted "R"), but my google survey does not reveal that this appellation is catching on so much. I applaud your continued effourts though and will consistently see your Frothy Mix and raise you one Grand Kleagle.

I'm sorry. I can't help that. I have on-the-ground reports from people I believe (more Dems than Repubs, surprisingly enough, given what I say here, but WTF works for NGO's in the first place) and those reports not only contradict what most of our Reader's Digest society gets to read, but it completely goes the other way, and they're all uniformly pissed at the outright deception they see brought to the casual-reading USA public. Be relectuant if you want, but all I can say is, it's a measure of your information-gathering, and not a bad reflection on those who deliver to you. Most of them are biased liars, and, if you believe them, they've done a good job, and you're a gullible SOB. You have a responsibility in this relationship, too.

That was a real long article. Can you summarize a bit for those of us with a shorter attention-span?

Yes, they have. They have fewer hours of power - sounds like approximately 20% less - but, as a sort of offset, almost none of them has been shredded for looking with something less than pure love and glee at a poster with the national president's picture on it.
I can understand that you don't see that as a move up. You're more concerned with, whose picture?, right?

My mistake -- I thought we were talking about "infrastructure". I didn't realize you were going to play the "But Hussein was a bad man" trump card.

A. You edited my post. Big bad, my man. . (Okay, had to add, JK. That came out too serious.)
B. You willfully and knowingly ignore my point, I suspect. If you do not know about the improvements in desalinization, electric, fuel, traffic, policing, garbage pickup, food availability, governance viability (can we get a permit for ???), welfare support, schooling, womens' rights, minority rights, availability of cars, oil delivery, ability to contact a government representative to make an argument, rental housing, and, fuck, even wayside rests on the major highways, then you have shut down due to "this won't help Kerry"-itis. Or something worse that I won't name. I'll just say that it has its roots in anti-intellectualism.
SH was a bad man. You want to make fun of my argument by pointing out that I believe that to be true. I'm not one of you cool kids who can bypass that. Death affects me. Mass death affects me greatly. Someday, maybe I can be above all of that tripe, like you

I didn't change your words, I quoted some -- but not all -- of what you said.
I'm sure we have done many good things for Iraqi infrastructure. Yet the fact that Iraqis have less power than they did under Hussein -- during the summer, when it gets hot there -- is a problem, and one inconsistent with the Panglossian tenor of your post.
And I wasn't making fun of your arguments; I was making fun of your changing of the subject.

Notes
Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist is in the hospital in Arlington, Va., for observation and tests after developing a fever, the Supreme Court said on Wednesday.
Kathleen L. Arberg, the Court's spokeswoman, made this statement in response to press inquiries: "Last night, the Chief Justice went to Arlington Hospital by ambulance because of a fever. He was admitted for observation and tests."
Ms Arberg said she had no further details, including no estimate of how long he would remain. He was still at the hospital in mid-afternoon.

First we were discussing infrastructure, and I tried to change the subject to changing the subject?
