It's not just about rebellion or making yourself different. If you don't just consider western culture/tattoos, body art/mutilation goes on in many cultures as a means of decoration. In some cultures I think everyone of a certain gender/age gets scarred (not necessarily the same scars, but only minor variations). Women put rings around their neck and plates in their lips. It's like earrings and piercings - some part of it is decoration. It's all the same. It's just more taboo in western culture to mutilate your body - because of religious reasons - that's where the rebellion/non-conformity comes from. But people would still do it even if everyone had tattoos.

Each of my tattoos actually means something to me. And each of them reminds me of a certain time and place.

Not to mention that I think they are really pretty.

You're retarded and I don't really feel like bothering with you today, so you can have the last word on the subject.

If it is an act of rebellion, then you are making a statement not only about yourself, but about what you think of other people.

If you do it because every other dumbass has one and you want one too, it says you belong with the cattle.

If you get one because you like it, whatever. Do what you like. The point is, it no longer says the same thing as it used to.*

*And don't waste your time looking up the origin of tattoos so you can tell me that it originally wasn't meant to set people apart, but to unite them, etc., because...well...you'll be wasting your time.

Cool. And I thought it was so that when you get drunk, you have a built-on excuse to show someone you want to fuck more skin.

Cohen's earlier jokes about the Central Asian state include claims that the people would shoot a dog and then have a party, and that local wine was made from fermented horse urine.

Finally, Poland is off the hook. Quick, someone print up 1000 "Kazakhstan is the new Poland" T-shirts. We're gonna be rich!

[cue: fat like Bobby Brown joke] I will do it (or not) because I don't need permission, made my own decision, it's my prerogative. [/cue: fat like Bobby Brown joke]

Fuck that fucking fuck!

Fuck this guy. Seriously

However, a miracle happened yesterday, after I got knocked out of my Eliminator pool (kudos to y'all who went with the Bears). I decided to chase my Giants-related losses with a huge bet on the Broncos -3.5, and followed it up with another huge bet on the Steelers (on the money line, but still . . .) Chasing NEVER works, but yesterday it did. I've marked my TV room with the inscription "A great miracle happened here."

Still, fuck that whiny little interception-throwing, non-tackling bitch. Oh, and fuck Jay Feely too for missing that chippie.

My sister (the good one who followed through on the pact, not the bad one who renegs and also refuses to pee on her paramours (though that technically wasn't reneging)) has an unusual tattoo on her right arm. There's sort of a story behind it but for the most part, "when people ask her why do you have X tattooed to your arm?" Her answer is "because I like X."

It's a weird tattoo, but it really makes her happy. She says that she stops during the day to look at her, and it will invariably cheer her up. She could give a rat's ass what people think about it, and I think that part of the reason that she has it is so she never, ever has to work in a place where having an X tattoo on her arm is frowned upon.

I never realized that [sister number 2] was a devotee of rave drugs and/or the Nation of Islam. Also, are you saying that [sister number 2] will pee on her paramours?

My friend has a tattoo of a heart with "name of girl" on it over his heart. He then has a "VOID" stamp tattoo over it. It is funny. But also a contender for the worst. tattoo. ever title.
