I think Metallica's drumming is good because its effective. It just pounds the songs forward. The dude from Rush is always trying too hard - too many beats all over the place. That's only good if you're a jazz drummer... or you're Keith Moon.

Kenny Aranoff is likely the best drummer alive today. That he played for so long with John Mellencamp is a travesty.
