Fantasies gone awry.

What is this world coming to?
Washingtonpost.com says that gymnast girls now dressed like pre-teens Doesn't the team coach understand that they should dress the 18+ year old gymnast girls like little sex pots? (The ones under 18, leave 'em be, too young to even leer at.)

Wrong. Having done plenty of both, I can say that playing receiver may require more speed and strength, but I think that receiving a soccer pass in flight takes much more skill and coordination. Half-volleying a ball in the air? Not easy.

I don't necessarily disagree, although I don't think the two types of passing are comparable. I know a few uncoordinated guys who throw beautifully. One gets compliments by opponents all the time in flag football, and the guy looks like your accountant and is shaped like a pear. He throws a great ball though.

Throwing a football is fairly easy. Throwing a below-average breaking-ball is tough as shit. I pitched, and if you can just get your curveball over for a strike, you're above-average.

Regardless, I still think that football requires the most all-around athletic ability: strength, speed, coordination and skill. B/c strength isn't primary in either sport, I think soccer or basketball comes in 2nd.
I'll defer to you on the soccer pass. I have not played soccer since grade school, and according to Flower, the passing back then was substandard. I think he might have a point...

Throwing a football is fairly easy? Try putting some juice on the fucker and placing it, or throwing a bomb with some guts behind it. Try throwing left while running right. I don't think that's very easy. I may be biased here, as throwing is about the only skill I've been blessed with (I could rebound, but had no ball handling skills, and I did pitch very well, but made up for that by being a lackluster hitter [too much swinging for the fences... shocking, huh?]).

The breaking ball, no matter how hard it is to throw, is not as tough as the inside curve. I've tried to throw the inside curve a million times, and hit many people many times. People who throw it straight overhand amaze me. I'd love to know how they hold the ball. It doesn't seem possible to put that spin on it overhand. All I ever had was a fastball and slider.

I think basketball is harder than football. You're constantly thinking, and that's the hardest part. At least for me.

When asked, Dan Patrick opined that basketball players are the greatest professional atheletes. He said that it was the combination of the players being that tall and large and doing so much running and otherwise coordinating.

Sure, there are some old school freaks like Jim Kelly, who played linebacker before QB, but take a look at Brady or Manning (they're a little tall, but not physical freaks... or maybe I just know way more 6'4 people than than most folks), or watch Phil Simms do commentary. You think Montana was a physical freak? I'd also invite you to look at a picture of Jerry Rice. These guys are not physical monsters, just average guys in really good shape, with some added muscle which most average men could put on if they had the time and inclination

ETA: To the fuck who will post Brady and Mannig's stats and say "6'4, 22 is not a freak????" I offer that I have about four or five friends of comparable height and size. In fact, you all probaly converse with one...
Good God, are you full of shit. First of all, seeing a professional QB on television without pads and seeing one in person are two different things entirely. And I suppose you haven't thought at all of "new school" guys like Daunte Culpepper (6'4", 260) or Byron Leftwich (6'5", 240), for example, who are both fucking huge. Manning is 6'5", 230; Mc Nabb, 6'2", 226; Brady, 6'4, 220; Even Favre (6'2, 225) and Gannon (6'3", 210), who have been around forever, aren't exactly small guys. Anyone smaller than this, or what you would describe as average size, by your definition makes up for their lack of size by having some other ability superior to the other NFL quarterbacks, usually speed and the ability to avoid the rush, (see, e.g. Vick (6'00, 215) or Garcia (6'1, 195) and both of these guys were out for part of the year last year.

Why even bring up Simms? How long has he been retired? Besides, I would be willing to venture that he isn't now at the weight he was when he played, because he doesn't do the same amount of physical conditioning he did then. Montana is a freak, but not for the reason you expect. He is a freak because he had skills that allowed him to be successful despite his size, much like a Vick or a Garcia or a Doug Flutie, but these guys are the exception and not the rule. And why even bring up Rice? Different position, different set of physical characteristics needed. Quarterbacks are getting pursued primarily by Defensive Linemen/linebackers. Who do receivers have to worry about mostly? Smaller defenders like cornerbacks and safeties.

I think your idea of average is what is out of whack. And Alex is a freak.

Happy Friday!

Apropos of this, I had a buddy who was jacked in the nads by a ball in HS. He went down. His best friend's dad was a doctor. The doc ran on the field, pulled down the buddy's pants, and proceeded to examine his twigs and berries to see if everything was okay. About 500 fans were present. Good times.
I would edit this to have the doctor be a MILF and to have her make ABSOLUTELY sure that everything was in working order.

Basketball is by far the most skilled sport, because everyone must do everything (plus it's what I do). In football everyone is a specialist. Soccer is mostly about controll and spacing. Watch two good teams play, and you'll see very few "oh my god plays." There shouldn't be any.

And let's let the gymnastics thread die. Flower lettered in gymnastics in HS, and he doesn't need someone calling it faggy after all he's been through already today.

Since this has virtually no chance of happening in a football game, I think this episode definitively resolves which is the better sport.

ETAsk: Did she have a spare to strap on at halftime, or did the coach, to the great frustration of the fans, remove her from the game?

No one can win this debate, partially b/c you're arguing which sport is the "most skilled", someone else is arguing which sport requires the "most coordination", while I'm arguing which sport requires the "most athletic ability", which I defined (or will define)as a combination of strength, speed, quickness, agility, coordination and skill.

Thus, the answer is Texas Hold Em.

ETA: I initially thought that football players were the dumbest, until I went to a college with a good hockey program. Good god were they stoopid. But those hockey players got more ass than a boy band.

Which in addition to all of the aforementioned skills, also requires big brass balls to play well.

You definately have some gaps in your knowledge of soft core T&A movies...

Not when I played...

"You, get rebounds... if the ball is passed to you near the basket, put it up. If you get the ball anywhere outside the paint, either shoot it or pass it immediately, but for god's sake, do not try to drive. You have hands like a blacksmith."

I'm still scarred from missing an open layup in totally empty court, utterly unguarded, during an 8th grade championship game.
