I find it a useful mental exercise when reading the posts of this sock to pretend that the words the sock has written are lyrics to a Melt Banana song, and then to sing the post accordingly. It helps with readability, if not comprehension.

what troubled me about rb's post, as much as I read of it and I didnt read all so I could be wrong, was that she was bitching about a problem she was a part of. her very presence contributed to the business of the suburban mall. pure hypocrisy.

It's the only thing you can bitch about around Hanukah/ Christmas. What else are we going to whine over? Getting lots of great presents? Going to parties, hanging with our friends, nibbling great hors d'ouevres, getting soused on the really good stuff? Santa Claus?

(again, the green slimy monster emerging from your twat.) Last I checked, DC/NY/LA/SF/younameit, all have escalators, cars, tree lots, parking garages and fat people.

Believe it or not, yes. A lot of the times, you discuss how to deal with racial problems. How to get along with someone who has said something that is objectively offensive and how to not let it impact your work and what to do to diffuse a potentially harmful situation.

My first summer, I had an inhouse job at a large company. Back then I used to shave my head in the summer (easier maintenance and it gets hot). I shaved my head like the second week and my (unofficial) mentor sat me down and told me that the look wouldn't be considered professional, that in this atmosphere, I should have come to talk to him about it first, etc. Sure enough, the next few days, I got comments from no less than 3 (white) superiors on it. Things like, "Is that a street look?" That's one example. I can give you many, many others, but I doubt it would do any good.

I'm assuming a fairly low standard for "working ok" - but the great country of Canada has worked ok since 1867 and our whole existence is predicated on maintaining our divisions.
