There are virtues in divided government, and I think I prefer have a GOP legislature passing few laws but a Dem president enforcing them vigorously (e.g., late Clinton) to a Dem legislature passing laws and a GOP president blowing them off (e.g., Reagan & Nicaragua).

I like funny people. I don't know why you are objecting to my calling you funny.
This is funny too, but I would like it better without the overt political thingy at the end and am not necessarily interested in Congress censuring the Bush Administration, not that there is a chance in hell of that happening unless he gets reelected (bite my tongue) and Congress goes Demo, and even in that situation it's a slim chance: http://www.moveon.org/censure/caughtonvideo/
Sorry if it's already been posted; I tried searching but might not have done it right.

Spanish bombers endorse Bush
After being taken to task for the last article I posted even though I meant to say nothing, I will post this one without comment. Well, without comment STARTING......now.
Quote:
The statement said it supported President Bush (news - web sites) in his reelection campaign, and would prefer him to win in November rather than the Democratic candidate John Kerry (news - web sites), as it was not possible to find a leader "more foolish than you (Bush), who deals with matters by force rather than with wisdom."
In comments addressed to Bush, the group said:
"Kerry will kill our nation while it sleeps because he and the Democrats have the cunning to embellish blasphemy and present it to the Arab and Muslim nation as civilization."
"Because of this we desire you (Bush) to be elected."

This just in -- the Earth is flat.
Moveon has made an advertisement out of Donald Rumsfeld's little fiasco last Sunday, in which he denied that he'd ever said Iraq posed an imminent threat, and then was confronted with his own words.
eta: Fringey just posted the same thing. I agree with her re censure, and posted it because it's mostly video of the same exchange for which I posted the transcript a couple of days ago.

Yes, but you told me that was in the interests of national security, so I forgave you.
Gotta run! Have to re-learn how to spell "centre" and "colour," and believe you me, it's a bear!

I see no need for censure as long as this gets widely publicized. And I'm sure whatever Rumsfeld was saying during and after the fadeout made it clear that in 2002 he wasn't really saying anything about Iraq being an imminent threat and/or that he wasn't part of the Bush Administration in 2002 or whatever.

Now dammit Ty -- how credible can this be coming from the "quagmire" brigade populated by you "Bush-lied" hysterics? Besides, everyone knows that Rumsfeld is nothing more than a disgruntled (not yet former) government official; he's always been pissed that he was stuck with Defense rather than HHS (no free Viagra for YOU)!

Let's read what he said:
Quote:
'some have argued that the nuclear threat from Iraq is not imminent, that Saddam is at least five to seven years away from having nuclear weapons. I would not be so certain.'
|
Where does he say it was imminent?

Well, sure. That distinction, coupled with the subsequent quote of Rumsfeld's ....
Quote:
'No terrorist state poses a greater or more immediate threat to the security of our people and the stability of the world and the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq.'
|
... is easily made by saying "look, assclam -- that's not the same thing as 'imminent.' It's completely different. Any fool would know that. I never said that word, and words have meaning."
Given that startling difference -- about which most everyone will agree is mainly correct -- I can't imagine why Rumsfeld didn't just say it on Face the Nation, and put Messrs. Scheiffer and Friedman in their place.
Can you?

No, AFTER the fadeout. Your transcript only has what was on the video thingy. I'm looking for a transcript of the whole show.
