For the record, and to clarify,

I don't really think you can tell how much money someone has by their watch, but rather by the strange alchemy of the combination of their watch, the stories they tell, how they treat their buddies, and various factors too random to be able to quantify.

But I knew my husband had no money the day I met him. And I still know it today.

Being originally from the wilds of Borneo, and still having family in the area, I must object to the generalizations being made about Asians. While it has been said that Asians may have less odor-producing sweat glands than other races, I must say that if you've ever spent any amount of time in Hong Kong or other high-density population areas in Asia (think Bangkok), your nose might refute this observation. Likewise, the idea that your preference of Asian males or females means that you prefer same-sex relations or opposite-sex relations is misguided. You are just a horny bastard or bastardess.

The truly smart women check out the shoes and maybe the belt. If he's wearing jeans, it's hard to tell since most guys will wear their "good Nikes" going out. Whaaaaa? I have Aldens, Guccis and Ferragamos, and I have yet to ever hear a woman say "Love your shoes." And shoes are cheap. You pay $2-400 once and you get five years out of the fuckers, so they're hardly indicative of being successful. Good shoes are in fact indicative of being wise and thrifty, because if you buy right, you buy once, whereas buying cheap means buying more often at increased cost. Maybe that's the allure of good shoes - they show stability and forethought.

As to belt matching, unless you're a fuckin retard, you match your goddamn belt and shoes. this is a huge pain in the ass if you're slightly colorblind like me. I have a closet full of belts I can't wear because they don't match properly.

I was simply making a blanket statement about being with Flinty on the point that the board has been depressing rather than entertaining these past two days, not suggesting that the conclusion followed from the preceding statements.

Now that I think about it, that was a perfect way to comment, in a meta kind of way, on NFH's "millionaires wear good shoes, therefore good shoes mean a guy has money" logic. I only wish I had so intended.
