It's sullied only because he's a player on a lacrosse team that has some real discipline problems. It seems if he can definitively prove his timeline, and the case goes away or is discredited, no one's going to think he did it. They'll think at most that someone on the lacrosse team got away with rape, but it wasn't him.
As for the other guy, even without a timeline he's in better shape. "Look, she misidentified my teammate, who clearly wasn't there, so how reliable can her identification of me be?"

I know, but his pic has been plastered around the world next to the word "rape." You try getting a date after that.

Yeah. Maybe he'll print out the story you linked to and carry a copy around in his wallet.

He'll have to call up fellow Duke alum tucker max and figure out how to turn drunken sexual assaults into fame and a handsome payday.

Life kicks you in the teeth sometimes. And it's even not fair. Boo hoo. Was this the guy who wrote an email saying he wanted to skin some hookers, or was that just one of his buddies?
At least he's not coming home from Iraq in a body bag. He should count his blessings.
NOTE: If the dancer filed a false police report she should be prosecuted for that. But had the DA done a better job investigating this, maybe he wouldn't look like a schmuck today.
Man, there's too many losers to count in this story. What a depressing picture of humanity.

this is why I say charges dropped around May 3. He has to have been made aware of this evidence. The defense attorneys wouldn't hold it back from the DA but then spill it to the press the day after the indictment.
The DA didn't care what kind of exculpatory evidence there was. He has a victim testifying to rape and identifying two players. That's enough for a grand jury to indict on, and there's no opportunity for anyone else to present the arguments of no DNA and photographic exoneration. It gets him through the election with an indictment. (although one might have thought he would wait until after the election to go to the grand jury--how hard is it to justify that? "I have evidence that I believe is sufficient to indict, but I would like to make sure that we get certainy on other evidence before taking this serious step.")

You don't think being one of two guys on that team that the DA singled out for prosecution is a bit worse on his reputation?

questions will always still linger. And definitively proving your innocence is pretty damn hard.
The prosecutor exercised shitty discretion.

I don't, if he's got compelling proof of innocence.
If I saw a resume with "Duke Lacrosse, 2003-2006" on it, I would be wary regardless of whether he was one of the two accusees. I'm not sure I'd go try to figure out if he were one of the two (again, depending on what comes out--he may be able to prove definitively he wasn't there, or he may be able to prove only that he probably wasn't capable of it because it meant, say, a 3 minute rape)
ETA: I must concede, apparently, that being associated with Duke Lacrosse is desirable, not a blemish.
ESPN reports sales of Duke Lacross gear have skyrocketed.

With all the shit that comes out of this board, that seems like an Intelligent Design to me.
