The Beteljuice thing doesn't always work with him. Watch:
Does anyone know what accounted for the decline in popularity in Mithraic cults in the first few centuries after Christ? Do the scrolls found at Nag Hammadi shed any light on this?

Exactly. The dude can get some really good tools and beer for that. Good for him. Makes me want to go through my closets.
Nevertheless, I must tout eBay as a pretty good place to get jewelry. There is a ton of absolute crap, but you are much less likely to get screwed on mid-range stuff than you are by your local jewelry shop with its 100%+ bullshit markup. If you know what to look for (or spend a bit of time to learn about it), and/or are willing to take a gamble on occasion, you can do very well. (The general eBay warning "don't spend more than you are willing to lose" is, as ever, sound.) You've got to have patience and can't feel any pressure to actually get something (have an anniversary deadline looming or look for something very specific for someone's birthday, etc., and you are setting yourself up to get screwed), but if you hang about and keep an eye on what is there you can do well. (Special mention for buying appraised loose stones and getting them set yourself.) I've had stuff appraised for 10X what I paid.
Anyhow, good weekend, all.
BR(screw you guys, I'm goin' home)C

I'd be careful if I were you. Are you sure he doesn't want to see YOUR heinie? Perhaps he's interested in you, and thinks that you were flirting with him. How did he act while you were in his office? Was the door open or closed?
Ever concerned, and semper fi,

[UNLURK]The Mithraic cult did not decline until the conversion of Constantine in the early fourth century and the official adoption of Christianity as the state religion. Subsequent emperors played upon Mitharism's associations with Rome's rival, Persia (birthplace of the cult), in order to foster Roman hostility to lingering elements. At the same time, the writings of the early Church fathers attributed Mithraism's close parallels to Christianity to some kind of satanic mockery of Christianity, i.e., Satan created Mithraism as an early Black Mass. (Of course, Mithraic mythology actually predated Christianity, so Satan really got the jump on us by thinking of things like baptism and sacred meals first.) The irony of this satanism accusation is that Pauline Christianity and Mithraism can both be said to be mere side effects of the Hellenization of Persia and the usurpation of Zoroastrian dualism. One form just proved to be more lasting than the other.
As for Nag Hammadi, no.[LURK]

I am now picturing you as the captain of a romulan spaceship with cloaking technology. This is not a positive thing for either you or me.
So I will now take my leave of you all for some patio sitting and alcohol consuming. Indeed.
