I'm just back from buying Black Hawk Down at Target, thanks to whoever recommended it.

I was late to Sealab 2021, but I've finally seen them all. Many of you (well AG and str8) have made broad pronouncements about the best. but where I'm at now is that Vacation is by far the best episode, and the Uh-oh bit it the best few minutes in the whole series. what I don't get is that this should be objectively clear and the others haven't echoed this very clear truth.

Unbefuckinglievable. Do you simply not remember the conversations you've had using socks? I could not have stated it in clearer terms AND YOU REPLIED TO THIS SPECIFIC POST.

I see you're voting for Bush. Actual verbatim text of my Episodes saved on my Tivo post:
- You are my SP, except I hated hated hated the Scott Tenorman episode of South Park, FWIW.
Space Ghost -- "Hey Retardos"
SeaLab -- Vacation/"Chopper Dave, I say again, we have Uh-oh"
SeaLab -- Stimutacs/"It's like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain"
SeaLab -- Oblivion/"I smell potty tentacle"
Conan -- Triumph goes to Bon Jovi in Jersey
Conan -- Triumph goes to the Star Wars premiere
SNL -- Affleck 2000 ("Do not pee in my mother's bush"/Frett's Film Review/Fanatic/Who Wants to Marry an 11,000aire)
Please note which SL2021 is listed first. Linky.*
*NB: This is not directed to Hank, who obviously knows this perfectly well and as to whom I am whiffing. Everyone on the board who is Not Hank doesn't give a shit about this, but you have to make a record with a contemporaneous objection. 50-6. As a thank-you for putting up with this footnote, please be advised that BBC America will air a three-hour (!) special mockumentary followup to The Office airing repeatedly from Thur/21 through Mon/25. I cannot take credit for introducing the board to anything on Adult Swim, but I do claim The Office and Trading Spaces. I am proud to have performed this service for you.

HDTV vs. EDTV

Isn't an EDTV monitor a much better deal (at least for the next four years)? Especially since DVD's are shown in the same resolution as EDTV?

I wasn't qualified to answer this post before, but now I am.
EDTV is 480p. That's DVD quality, which sounds really good, but it's really just the same resolution as any set, progressively scanned (= more stable, filmlike picture). It sounds really good until you see an HD picture, that is. Much is lost watching HD on an EDTV set --- I'm not even sure this is possible to do. In any event, I recommend plunking down for a real HD set --- just get a smaller one. 60" is overkill unless you live at Wembley. Mark my words: all SD content looks like absolute crap blown up to 60", no matter which set or receiver you have. And SD is 90% or more of what you're gonna be watching. People are buying these big-ass TVs and complaining about the quality of the SD content. Ever try blowing up a newspaper photo on a photocopier? Wouldn't you feel dumb to complain that it looked "grainy"?
I've had an HD set for a while but waited to pick up an HD receiver. People warned me that once you have HD you tune in to nature shows about insects and shit just because you're mesmerized by the picture, and it's true. Hell, I was watching reruns of the SLC 2002 Winter Games just to see the pretty pictures. I watched my college get its ass kicked on ESPN HD, and I liked it.
If you buy an ED set, consider it disposable. But the same trouble of getting a large set home and set up, you could be watching many network primetime shows in HD.
FWIW, many HD receivers convert and display SD quite well. The all-digital path channels on DirecTV (for example, Comedy Central and Cartoon Network) are surprisingly good on a (relatively small --- 32") HD set, even though their content is pure SD. I'm using an HD Tivo, which I recommend with reservations. PM me if you want details.

Nota Bene: Under the rules in place following the debates (the "Bushburied Rules"), we count procedural questions as well as substantive ones. You are now 51-6.

EDTV simply isn't wirth it, considering that similarly-sized HD-ready sets are not much more expensive and the difference in picture is dramatic.
We use Comcast's HD DVR box, and with a few reservations (like Atticus, PM is you have any q's), it's terrific, with plenty of HD content.

Fair and Loofahed
Fox News is asking a court to declare it's okay to fire Andrea Mackris, the associate producer who has accused Bill O'Reilly of sexual harassment.
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-208086c.html
What I want to know is what exactly O'Reilly was doing with that vibrator while he was masturbating during a phone call to Mackris. On second thought, I don't want to know. nttawwt.
