Well, what rumor did her publicist deny--that she would come out in a magazine?

Anyway, fascinating follow-up research on Imdb reveals that she has apparently yet to recover from the heartbreak of losing her companion, the grandson of Learned Hand. Aloha!

they both suck so much I can't keep things straight. but how can you not turn a key? I realize it's luck as to how quickly you find the right one, but can't you at least turn the key? Too bad aaron didn't chuck the bag off the mountain.

You have one hand between your legs and are using the other to flip someone off. How can you be bored?

No.

Riding on the subway this morning I secured a seat (sorry, grandma - too slow) and was reading Martin Amis's book "Yellow Dog." Now I have always given Amis the benefit of the doubt since "London Fields" (Keith Talent onna darts, innit?) but this one is turning out to be a pile of crap. But whatever. That's not the point.

As I'm reading, the fat jackass next to me says "isn't 'adrenaline' supposed to be spelled with an 'e' at the end?" I have no idea what the fuck he's talking about for several seconds, until it becomes clear to me (as I am sure it has already become clear to you, gentle and wise readers) that this B.O.-wafting heap of shit has been reading my book and, not content with that flagrant violation of subway etiquette, has initiated a conversation about its contents.

For those of you who don't have the good fortune to live in TCOTU and get accosted on public transportation on a regular basis, unsolicited initiation of conversation is way past over-the-shoulder-reading, prolonged staring and pole-hogging on the "where's-my-mace" scale of subway offenses.

I said the only thing I could say - "maybe not in England." A little crazy, I know, but I was ready for anything and not concerned about the consequences. Luckily this appeared to satisfy his curiosity. Moral of the story? Martin Amis has jumped the shark big time. I guess that was the point after all.

Maybe I should switch hands?

Sorry, pal. Criticizing Yellow Dog is soooo 2003:

On the bright side, you look good in Von Dutch.

I'm encouraged by the fact that you still care enough to google books and authors you've never heard of when I mention them in my posts. This is how you broaden your horizons, and it warms the cockles of my heart to see you taking those first, tentative, stumbling, unsure, hesitant steps toward the light. Kudos!

Can y'all just get a room or whatever (and film and post film) instead of sending these encoded messages of love and lust?

The pretty kitty's use of a strap-on is kinda hot, though. Is it an extender, or is it in lieu of viagra?

A couple more on The Most Amazing Race Ever.

1) Is Hayden the whiniest baby ever? If you choose a sucky cab driver, is the best solution to get out in the middle of nowhere, where you don't speak the language, to find another cab? Does the expression "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me" ever enter your mind? There are a dozen cabs at the clay soldiers and you pick the same idiot? Good work. And, btw, I'm never giving you my spare key.

And, Kris and Jon, how do you get on the second-arriving flight to Chicago when you got to the airport first, and had your choice of flights? If United didn't suck as much with on time arrivals on the show as it does in real life, you would have lost by half an hour. The train would have been long gone at that point. (which, by the way, middle-aged-Burger could have run around with no problem--it's a race: find a way). But your flight picking cost you $1 million, because Freddy and Kendra got Hayden's cab, and you would have overtaken them.

So, Freddy, with all the money, please buy yourself some decent glasses and a better do'rag.

That is all.
You are middle-aged? Does this mean you are not Bilmore in fifteen years but you are just Bilmore?

Dissent.

I enjoy these exchanges, as they provide me with warm reassurance that, in my desperate need to Google constantly the literary and cultural signposts that constitute the razor's edge of commentary on this board, I am not alone.

What with Hank's recent Vonnegut reference on the PB, I again felt the burning shame of one whose cultural point of reference rarely strays from the pages of People. The knowledge that PLF is among us brings the comfort of a warm blanket, providing modest shelter from the winds of Ironweed's and Hank's intellect.

I do admit to some discomfort with the cockles reference, though.

Just pretend they're your cockles and you won't feel so uncomfortable around them.

How large does a cult need to be before it's no longer considered a cult?
