Yeah they both sucked. Penny Royal Tea was a huge disappointment. But they didn't suck as hard as Josh, who continues to underwhelm me. His reggae sucked. Hard.
Under most improved, Ryan really surprised me. I had written him off. He was good.

Some of the contestants are pretty good (and beat the fuck outof anything on Idol), the house band rawks, and the song choices aren't bad for network tv. And for some reason, I find Tommy Lee amusing.
It pains me to see Navarro as a game show host, just like it pains me to hear Jane's songs in commercials.

The only part of the show that I really liked - the in the house drama - has been relegated to internet only broadcasts this season. I watch to show support for Mr. Man because he really digs this show. I hate the AI type format generally. And all of the recapping. Holy shit. We can watch the Wednesday show in about 15 minutes, between ff'ing through recap and encore shit.

She was really overshadowed by Tommy.
Dilana redeemed herself last night, I actually almost liked her singing Bad Company. And my boy Toby really needs to step it up.
What I was really surprised at was the fact that Lukas was not bottom 3. Because he sucked. You'd think he'd be better at bringing the Courtney Love out of himself.
|
I was hoping Lukas would be in the bottom 3. That pocket punk just annoys me. He's all performance and no voice.
I'm not wild about any of the guys but wonder if Tommy & Co. are confident enough to pick a woman. Some of the women should get together and try their luck with a chick band.
Patrice has a nice voice but it doesn't have a lot of power. Storm and Dilana can sing circles around her. I liked Dana but she seems more suited to the pop world.
Zayra (or Zelvira, as I've seen her called) is quite the character. I'm not wild about her voice but am always amazed by what she wears.

Thoughts for a Thursday
I was out cruising in the drop top today during the old skool lunch hour and that tune came on.
Irony or coincidence or some mix of the same?
eta: I thought of you [sniff]. In a good way. Except to the extent the thoughts were bad. no offence.

Since this is "Post an Article Day"
This is an interesting article from the ABA Journal on why women of color leave law firms. Among other things, it talks about mentoring and that partners give good work to people they feel most comfortable with, which most often is someone just like them.
And while we're posting articles of Minnesota interest,
this one about a Minnesota pastor illustrates that the Religious Right doesn't own all of us who are evangelical Christians. He is a frequent guest preacher at my church's services for people who aren't comfortable with (or are bored sick by) traditional church.

I didn't read the article, but I am guessing it is because they are smarter than the rest of us?

I've heard this comment a few times from colleagues and friends, and to be honest, I still don't get it. Is it just me? Probably.

I am with you monkeyman. People like me are the last people I want to keep around. I mean, who likes working with an oppressive unfunny arsehole?

Wax on
'Bout goddam time wax museums started honoring porn stars. I mean, it's one thing to be immortalized with a life-like mold of your vagina, or as a blow-up doll, but a wax museum is a whole 'nother level.
