Bad Rhymes

Did anybody see this piece on the 20 Worst Crime Rhymes in pop music history? I think they really phoned it in here. While some of the songs mentioned are pretty bad, I think any list that doesn't include

Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talking with Davey
Who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life
in the top five has no credibility.

Gooonie Goo-Goo!

The fact that Eddie Murphy is nominated for an Oscar is surely one of the signs of the apocalypse.

That REM's End of the World isn't on the list renders it unreliable.

Does he sing in this movie? Something other than "my girl wants to party all the time"?*

*I am actually subconsciously a big fan of that song. Second only to November Rain for getting stuck in my head for no reason.

Fuck that. He deserves to win for his role in Trading Places.*

And if you are going to put a Police song on the list, it shouldn't be Walking on the Moon -- the crime there is that it's totally illogical, not a bad rhyme -- it should be Don't Stand So close to Me, for

Shake it off -- rub some dirt on it.

I've made it pretty clear on the PB where I come out on the rules vs. discretion thing, and this is just another example, I guess. Your second sentence here makes as much sense to me as saying, if prosecutors are going to have some discretion, why have criminal laws at all? So, I agree to disagree.

If it makes you feel any better, I have not seen a single movie on that list.

2. Unless Borat made the list, which I think it did not.

Having kids puts a big damper on the whole movie-going experience.

It did get an Oscar nomination, however...

Setting aside Cars, Open Season and Happy Feet (or whatever this year's penguin movie was called).

It did. For adapted screenplay (well, the writers did).
