You're putting a lot of stock in the evidence the defense bar is adducing in the press instead of whatever the prosecutor's got. If, e.g., the time stamp on that digital camera is off by an hour -- say, not reset for daylight savings time, like my digital camera -- then the alibi disappears, right?
I'm not saying he's guilty, but if I have learned anything about the press coverage of the matters I've worked on, it's that the press coverage is worth about what we paid for that ABCNews.com story.

I hear ya, but it's not just this press story and it's not just the time stamp. It's the ATM records and cell records, plus the fact that there is NO DNA corroboration and the timing of the election.
Look, if their guilty they should get sent somewhere where they are sodomized on an hourly basis. I am just very skeptical they are actually guilty.

they could make them intern for bill clinton in perpetuity, but at his age i think his refractory period might be longer than an hour.

an NBC report said the time stamps were consistent with the times on watches in the pictures, and that some computer forensics proved they weren't tampered with.
Besides, the quality of evidence the defense needs is about what the press is satisfied with.

My point about the digitial camera is that it's the front end of their alibi -- if you put it an hour earlier, then they had 80 minutes to do bad stuff instead of 20.
And to be clear -- I'm just speculating about the time stamp.

My experience is that the press would often rather do the minimal work to get a story that sounds plausible to people who don't know the case rather than put in the real time to know it as well as the people who do.

I expect them to act in a self-interested, profit-maximizing fashion, much like the employees of other corporations.

Peggy is shrill.
Why does Peggy Noon hate the President?
If she'd listened to lefties, she could have figured out this stuff a few years ago, before Iraq and Katrina pulled the wool from the eyes of people who wanted too badly to believe.

It is remarkable that an article that merely offers President Bush constructive criticism would be deemed as "hating" him.
Then again, the Democrats never see fit to criticize anyone in their party - regardless of their behavior - so I guess it isn't all that surprising.
