You mean like when Martha Stewart said she didn't believe that she remembered her conversations with her Broker regarding Sam Waksal selling his Imclone stock?

Always have been, always will be. Always should be, given the intended audience of smart people. Speaking of disingenuous, is Bush still answering any and all budgetary questions with "ya see, I'm a wartime president"? Its too bad Kerry was the best consensus they could come up with, I'd have considered voting for one (Dean) or another, but Kerry just ain't happening for me.

I leave out the Alec Baldwin Jack Ryan for obvious reasons.

"Ryan" works for anyone in Illinois, cept maybe this year. Now that I think about it, its a good year not to be a Republican candidate named "Ryan" in Illinois this year.

Is the standard the same when the withdrawal of the plea is stipulated? I can understand why there would be a manifest injustice standard if the AUSA opposed the withdrawal, but this . . .

In all fairness, a couple of military medals, too (or at least he used to have those). Then there was that guy's life he saved. That has to be worth a vote or two, the guy being a Republican and all.

Left hand, meet right hand.
Bad week for the Bushies.
Bush administration finally announces the nomination of a jobs czar after promising to do so 6 months ago.
Problem is, they person they ended up appointing turns out to have laid off 75 of his own workers in 2002 and then built a $3 million factory in China to employ 180 Chinese that same year.
When encountering this politically sensitive issue, the Administration dropped Raimondo like 3rd grade French. Not to worry, though -- the Bushies have almost 8 months to find a supporter among their ranks who can do this job yet don't own their own factory in a foreign country!
Robert Novak offers his take on the situation, and it's not kind.
Quote:
It could be a script from television's "West Wing." Nebraska industrialist Tony Raimondo was selected to be the newly created assistant secretary of manufacturing in the Commerce Department at the recommendation of his friend and business associate, the state's Democratic senator, Ben Nelson.
But before Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans' scheduled announcement, the appointment was leaked to Sen. John Kerry. The prospective Democratic presidential nominee then revealed that Raimondo runs a factory in China. Senate Republican leaders won White House agreement not to make the nomination, and Bush aides blamed Nebraska's Republican senator, Chuck Hagel.
The incompetence stems from White House failure to notify Hagel or any other Republicans in advance. That the process of vetting an important nominee fell apart in the fourth year of the Bush administration defies credibility.

In the jurisdictions I've been in, yeah, it's out of the attorneys' hands at that point.

"Welcome home!" exclaimed the president, wearing a military-style jacket as he spoke Thursday to thousands.
Good to see he's playing dress-up again. I wonder if he spent this much time in uniform 35 years ago.

I have a b.i.l. returning from Qatar today (literally). There is no love lost. He also has entertaining stories of the little Thanksgiving dinner and the propoganda set up for it.
