Random Thoughts on the Olympics

The first hit on my Google search told me about beaches near Norway, Michigan (which does not have its own beach volleyball team at the Olympics, alas). Lacking a coastline (no offense to Lake Geneva), Switzerland probably has fewer beaches still, though modern technology and market forces are great things.

I was not inquiring about Switzerland. I attest to the fact that there are beaches in Norway because I have seen them with my own two eyes rather than a google search. They are quite sandy and lovely. I would recommend a visit. Do not question my knowledge.

Are we allowed to question whether you got any Norwegian wood on those beaches? My guess is "yes" if we are keeping score.

You're Entering a World of Lebowski

A CULT gives its members license to feel superior to the rest of the universe, and so does a cult movie: it confers hipness on those who grok what the mainstream audience can't. Joel and Ethan Coen's 1998 hyperintellectual stoner noir bowling comedy "The Big Lebowski," ...

If you watched the Penn & Teller Bullshit episode on Showtime regarding cuss words, you would be aware that the cyclist should have used both hands to form the shape of an entire bird. It's the new giving the finger in prudish housewife circles everywhere. I'm guessing I'm the only person who saw this, thus making the reference that much less funny. Thank you.

More sports? The Olympics is cluttered up enough with sports I've never heard of and endless variations of the ones I do know. So many of the events are so trivial that any new world records in the event should just be logged in to the Guiness Book and the gold saved for a more useful purpose, like for Ali G. Why do we need Women's Beach Volleyball? There is already Women's Volleyball. I appreciate Women's Doubles Swimsuited Ass-Slapping as much as the next guy, but why does it have to be an Olympic Event?

That would be a decent show if it didn't involve the unbelievably annoying blowhard Penn. Or Teller. Whoever the tall fat one is. Nice ponytail, dick.

Agree. He's Penn. He's annoying. I think they should let Teller run the show. Maybe with cue cards.

What Olympic Sports would you add....

I found myself giggling uncontrollably yesterday as I explained to my husband and coworkers that I had just spent the past hour and a half at the gym watching Women's Snatch. Granted, the clean and jerk was in there also, but it sounded dirtier leaving that out.
ETA: I did not explain that I was watching the Olympics. Just that I had been looking at women's snatch at the YWCA.

Because (absent a porn library equivalent to Less') where else would you see Norwegians and Swiss doing same?
I thought we'd already covered this.

Not Scandinavian (Brazilan), but ass-slapping and Olympic beach volleyball related:
The Netherlands (closer!):

Speaking of the Olympics
Quote:
sunnybunny
I have sworn up and down that I keep seeing Kerri Strug (the gymnast who landed on one foot, to clinch the women's team gold or somethign like that) on the streets of D.C. around my office. I'd point her out and people would say "nah, that's not her. Bunny, how do you even recall what she looks like?"
So, I'm at a party this weekend and I find out that one of the Bunnyman's friends just hooked up with her in a bar, that she works in D.C. very close to my office. I feel so vinidacted.
