Regardless of who you think "won," Club is one of the few posters who genuinely tries to have civilized discourse on the merits and taxwonk has tried to turn the discussion into a name-calling flame war.

Too many of the responses seem to include "well, it's not like a serious person asked this, but . . . '

Find one of them and quote it here. Not wonk's last post. One before that.

I feel if we all took an IQ test TW would be the only two digit poster. No offense.

God I hate those. And I'll second your characterization of Club. The guy either keeps it civilized, or walks away with dignity.

Okay, let's get real. The more visceral the response, the less intellectual. But, that doesn't leave us with the ability to judge the intellect.

(Gawd help me if it does.)

Club could represent me here any day, and I would be more than happy. He's like me, except, with discretion.

I don't have the energy to look right now. I'll just leave you with "no serious economist . . . "

No, he's not.

He's as smart as me (faint praise), he's knowledgable about econ, but he's been drawn to the Dark Side.

Don't confuse the issues.

With all the people casting doubts about whether Kerry will be able to find more international support for us in Iraq, here's an account that the Administration recently rebuffed a plan for a Muslim peacekeeping force under UN control that would have helped organize elections. Too bad. Muslim peacekeepers would take some of the starch out of the resistance, I'm thinking.

I noticed that you didn't bother to reply once I pointed out that you had misunderstood what I'd said in that regard. If you need some energy, eat some potatoes.

Okay, this is like a personal challenge. Where?

(I won't eat potatos. (Potatoes?) I can't pass up a personal challenge.
