Truly, you are faster than an impala.

I just checked, and I'm not getting any sound now.

It was meant as such, but feel free to take it however you like.

I saw Casino Royale tonight. Liked it very much.

??? In what regard? They look like a couple normal women. I see them al over Philly. My gripe is that they're outnumbered about 48 to 1.

Music Question

As for why radio stations play it, I do not know because I am too cool for commercial radio stations. Too. Cool.
How cool can you really be if, independently, you're choosing the same music that commercial radio stations choose? I will give you that I believe this is being played on "alternative" commercial stations, but still, that indicates a drive to commercial tastes, no? I'm just saying. It's only a matter of time, perhaps.

Nostalgia 77 doing Seven Nation Army (trust me on this one)
Soul Asylum doing Sexual Healing
It's not very cool, I guess, but I like James Blunt doing Fall at Your Feet

I didn't STP but if someone hasn't mentioned The Clash cover of Junior Mervin's "Police and Thieves," they should have.

Also, Hank's suggestion of the Elvis Costello "Funny Valentine" is a good one. I would add the cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" from King of America to the list.

Also entertaining is the cover of "Calfornia Uber Alles" by the short-lived Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy: I'm your governor Pete Wilson/the baddest governor to ever grab a mike and go BOOM

And I unilaterally declare Tuesday, December 12, 2006, Scary Clown Day.

It must be nice to live in your simple little world. If it is uncool to listen to comercial radio, it therefore must be uncool to like any song that has ever been played on commercial radio. I'll let you in on a little secret: Not only do I like some music that is played on commercial radio stations; I even like some music that is played on classic rock stations!

Did you go see Medeski Scofield, etc.?

The thing I never really liked about the Disposable Heroes cover is that it kind of lost the ironic humor of singing about a hippie fascist state when he turned it into a song about a fascist fascist state. Have you checked out the more recent Spearhead? Don't bother.

Did you know that "Don't Leave Me This Way" by the Communards was a cover?

Yeah, they didn't do irony - just really earnest outrage, which I find less . . . durable. The same sort of thing happened way back when I wanted to like The Goats (that and the insistence on ruining what might almost have been a good album with unlistenable between-track "skits" -- I think this is a practice that has thankfully died out). I haven't bothered with Spearhead and don't plan to for the same reasons.

I really don't like scary clown day. It is not even 8 in the morning here, and the clown, well, scared me.
