I think it's kind of silly also, but this picture is kind of cool:

I heard that this happens when you put a lot of men in college dorms together, but maybe that's just an urban myth.

Disagree. While I won't defend its sporting value, it seems to be the repository for only the hottest former regular gymnasts, except grown up to legal age and appearance.

Is it just me, or is anyone else feel kind of weird watching women's gymnastics?
First of all, so many of them aren't women.
Second of all, why do they have to wear those tiny little suits? Couldn't they design something that provides more coverage that doesn't get in the way?
I mean, what's wrong with this? (Yez, it's a tank top. But I think the black should be standard for leotards.):
I understand that they are children and that people shouldn't be looking at them in a sexual way, but we don't live in a perfect world, do we?
What really grosses me out are the coaches -- so often middle-aged men, always giving hugs. I think it's weird. How long before there's a huge scandal with some coach and a little girl? How does one decide that he wants to spend all his time training little girls to be more flexible, anyway? Bleh.

ETA the crap was steaming, but it was not a hot visual. IMHO. NTTAWWT.

The lowercase nude woman kind or the uppercase Canadian rock group kind?
If the latter, I'm hoping he's not in the centerfold. It's bad enough they are almost completely naked on the cover of their CD's from their live shows this summer...
In other news, mega porn star Jenna Jameson is doing a book signing (she can write, who knew?) in the Loop next week. Anyone need a copy?

I've been getting it forever and its so cheap I just keep renewing it, along with Time, newsweek and a few others that I bought all at once in a package.
The articles aren't bad, but the centerfolds usually blow. The celebrities aren't bad, however. The olympic chicks this month are pretty hot.

Aren't a lot of them from former (or current - eg China) communist countries where the decision was made for them?
What I can't stand is the makeup on the US team. There's one girl whose eyes are so made up it's whorish. I noticed (yes, I watched) that the Romanians did not have nearly so much makeup as the Americans on yesterday.
There is a 25 year-old on the US team. She just looks young.

I agree to an extent that the uniforms should be improved. But I think (from my long-gone gymnastics days) that skin contact to the bars is necessary for the uneven bars. having some sort of fabric covering the legs would likely result in more falls on that appartus and less cool tricks. I hate all the makeup that they put on the girls. Though I suppose that at that age the girls really like it.

Jenna Jameson is a smart businesswoman who has her own fairly large self-made empire. Why do you think her name is a household name even amongst non-porn watchers? not a coincidence.

I get creeped out watching it, especially when they tell me that the 4 foot something, 80 something pound young lady I'm having trouble looking at already is actually of age and in her 20's looking like that. All that training must stunt their growth and do horrible things to them.
As for the makeup, it may be a function of projecting their expressions, sort of like the clowns in the circus. The judges can see you smiling if your smile is freakishly wide up close...

Wait, our girls' makeup is worse than the eastern european girls' makeup? Wow. That's bad. No offense to you hunkies.

Mrs. Flinty and I were watching a little of the gymnastics preliminaries, and I was having the exact same problem. I could swear those women were 12, but no, then the announcer says she's 18 or 25 or something outrageous. For some reason, Mrs. Flinty could tell the ones who looked young from the ones who actually were young. I had no such ability and it made me uncomfortable. I didn't know when to say "Nice ass" and when to keep that to myself.
