Right. In the long run, I am equally disappointing to both genders. Such is the life of a male model. Too pretty for the girls. Too un-gay for the boys.

I would have posted about this earlier, but there are some playa hatas out there who mock my new (knew?) Hollywood lifestyle.

I really doesn't take very long to get all involved in the Hollywood lifestyle does it? Scary when you think how quickly it happens. A year ago you would have said "I'd never go to a Deuce Bigalow premier, pshaw." And now. Here you are. Zsa Zsa's pool boy.

str8 signed off on me reporting the goings on at the competing studios. as long as I try not to make things sound too cool. Did you notice the Deuce-deprecating tone of my post? str8-approved!

She never did bring it out. And I explained to the waitress why he had to go. The crazy thing is what the hell was Carville doing in LA, and why was he jogging right in the middle of the city? The only reason why I could think he was jogging was because he was in one of the hotels near there, but they all have Gyms with treadmills. I would have asked him all that , but I was so busy trying to be cool and nonchalant that I never got the chance. And why didn't he buy his own newspaper? Fact is truely stranger than fiction.

It came to me. I'm just that cool. I was just sitting and drinking, minding my own business. Next thing you know, studio hacks with big posters and guest lists start cramping my style. Penske can explain how much of a buzzkill this can be.

Its pretty simple, Spankeroo. The man grew up in a swamp pit and resides ina swamp pit. LA is sunny and dry. He seems rather, uh, intense, so probably runs pretty far. He probably could get to a more runnable area from Bev Center with his mileage maybe even the beach, check out some scenery. Beats the hell out of thumping away on a treadmill. Especaily when its lovely outside.

You can't "screw anything up" in posting an experience by making what you perceive to be a name-drop gaffe. You can charm a reader who’s likes you case but thinks you’re a dick or is wary of some you. You can endear yourself to a reader and slowly create a stalker. But you can’t make a reader who isn’t interested interested. If she’s not curious about your story from the get go, cut bait.
I guess what I'm saying is, don't beat yourself up about the namedrop fuck up. Its not you; its her. Well... actually, that’s not true. It is you. But its nothing you did by posting that story, so you got that going for you...

Yes.
FWIW, many a time I found myself behind Mary Matalin at the checkout of the crappy little grocery store in Cleveland Park at 10 PM on a weeknight. Other than polite hellos/hows it goings we really did not chat too much.

I haven't read the book that you reference, but I'd be interested to know if it is worth reading when you are finished.

I was blown away by Guns Germs and Steel. I found it very convincing and the stories were great. The most fascinating, I found, was the story of the New Zealanders that went to that island and reverted to Hunter Gatherers because that was all the Geography would allow. And then their long lost relatives came a hundred years later and slaughtered them. Did you see the PBS special on it? It was pretty good. He added some new ideas that I am pretty sure were not in the book. He argued that one of the major reasons that Subsaharn Africa is so backward is because of malaria. Before European civilization the African natives lived on high ground, a way from the mosquitos, and did not live in high density areas. So Malaria wasn't much of a problem. But now that they have adopted western ways, they live near rivers and lakes and in high density cities and hence they have huge mortality rates with Malaria. Jareed thinks this prevent the Africans form developing. I don't think that was in the book.
Have you read his new book on the reason why civilizations decline?
