Didn't the league add a rule that in this situation the QB at least had to be in the play for them to get blocked? I.e., no free shots unless he's participating by chasing the return man or at least near him?

No and no (and no to Coltrane's query as well), however I did see Across The Universe today. Loved it! I think that Anne Elk (and any other Hair aficionados on the board, if there are any) would enjoy it also. It was the 3rd step in my 12 step Become An Official Hippie Chick programme.

Ps. Jim Sturgess is dreamy.

I think it is supposed to be a comedy. Neither of your movies seem distracting and happiness-making, dour girl.

As much as I love Joe, the only way I resign him is if Jorge, Mo and Andy all threaten to otherwise walk.

Time for some blood in that Clubhouse.

Wonder if it's time for all those Yankee fans to take back all those Met choking jokes?

Why? We got beat by a better team in a short series. You guys choked.

In other news, anyone watch the end of the Dallas/Buffalo game last night? Unbelievable. Although, the defensive play on the failed 2 point conversion was clearly face guarding. Not surprised none of the announcers failed to bring that up.

I get to go to Boston today. Yay! (In a pushy the puppy type way.)

Whoops, I must have missed that. Sure, that was worth the extra 50 billion.

Wong looked a lot like Glavine to me last night. Second biggest choke job I have ever seen.

FYI, I personally think the Yanks need to clean house. Keep the young pitching, Rivera, Jeter, Canoe, Cabrera but not much else. They are missing those Brosius, O'Neil go for blood type guys.

Arod, despite historic numbers has never won anything.

And boy that ESPN MNF crew could fuck up calling a MFF. Tony K could e the most annoying announcer ever.

The NFL needs to change the rule on calling a timeout before the snap. Credit to the kicker formaking not one but two career-long 53 yard kicks. But the timeout-on-the-final-snap is quickly replacing the timeout-in-the-air-going-out-of-bounds as the most ridiculous calling of a timeout. Either preclude defensive timeouts once the offense is at the line of scrimmage, or when in kickign formation, or at least ban the coach from calling timeouts at that point. If a team wants to have a player stand next to teh ref instead of play, that's fine.

BTW, why did the Indians "shock" the yankees? Or is that just more TBS announcer suckitude? Both teams were good, and their records nearly identical. How is it a shock the indians won, especially after taking the first two games? The only "shock" would ahve been in teh yankees had come back to win game 5. (note to ESPN: If you replace tony kornheiser, don't pick a TBS baseball announcer.)

This Met fan isn't ready to take back his Met choking jokes.

It surprised me how easy the Indians made it all look. Bottom line: Yankee pitching really wasn't October quality. Mets just weren't October quality period.

NTTAWWT, Senator Craig.
This weekend, I was sort of keeping track of the progress of a bunch of people I knew in the Chicago Marathon. At one point, I wondered if you (Coltrane) were running in it, and I ACTUALLY WENT TO THE SITE, AND STARTED TO PUT THE NAME "COLTRANE" in the box where you look for progress of the runners. Then it dawned on me that Coltrane might not be your real name.

In other NYC news, a guy went on a rampage over on 2d or 3d Avenue over the weekend, where he stole some knives from a restaurant, and went out on the street randomly stabbing people until an off-duty transit cop shot him (not fatally). Anyway, on the news, they were interviewing an eyewitness, who described the attacker as "Just a regular crazy guy..."

That tickled me immensely.

But I would think that baseball would be the hardest; either you can make contact or you can't. That's what drives kids out of the sport by 12; the ones that are still in it are out by 16 if they can't hit the curve.
My son is in the 7-8 year olds for baseball. He was with 9 and 10 year olds and since he's juust turning 9 this Dec., he was lost it was his first year playing baseball. So the coach suggested they move him to 7-8.

In the 7-8 year olds, they let them hit until they make contact. Each time, he made contact....some on the first couple of tries and some on the first try. He's not the fastest runner, but not bad.

In soccer, he zones out. The coach will tell him to stay in his space.....he's always all over the place. He tries to take the ball to try to score a goal, when he should be in his place setting up a pass. It is very frustrating. He did well as goalie. It wasn't bad. He's not bad at offense. Defense is a dee-saster. We're trying. Basketball he's not bad at all. Football he wasn't bad but he preferred to do baseball and it conflicted. Actually, at soccer the girls seem more skilled than the boys on his team. We told him if he does not pay attn. at soccer, he will not be allowed to play, and instead he's coming running at the school track with me, or we're joining the family plan at the large sports complex near us.

I'm thinking he's bored with soccer.

I'm sure the Darjeeling is somewhat like Rushmore and The Royal Tennenbaums, which I really enjoyed. When has Wes Anderson let us down?

Don't get me started on Into the Wild. I haven't seen the movie, but if Penn romanticized this kid's journey w/out including the huge, arrogant and reckless mistakes he made, then it's going to make me angry.
