The advertising was all over NYC. I don't think anyone here watched it either. At least I didn't, and that's pretty much all that matters.

Can we go with "east of La Brea" or "east of the 5" or something? Because being east (or west, for that matter) of something that runs E-W makes my head hurt.

I have been pondering going to the Constant Gardener (showing at location convenient to me) -- dull is bad, though. Is Syriana really really political? Or is it possible to ignore the political aspects?

The movie selection near me generally sucks. I need to move in with ncs and Mr. Man.

Knock yourself out. Or you can take solace in the notion that Sunset doesn't run to the Atlantic.

I really liked Hostel- sure there were holes in the plot- but those provided opportunities to show lots of pretty naked people- so it was okay- mostly naked girls and pretty disgusting parts after that so probably not a good fringey movie though

Why do naked young women get murdered in horror flicks? I dislike that plot mechanism. The killers should murder all the boyfriends and lock the girls in one room, where they huddle in terror, which would lead to holding one another, which would lead to group distress sex.

Inspired post, Hank. I'm sure next you are going to tell us that an avocada is not a vegetable. Hank on judged is funnier.

ncs- normal kill movie rules- you take off your clothes you die- so this moved away from that- as to judged- you always were a sucker for GGG, so no surprises.

Hank, sebastian could give a rat's ass about the particulars of that movie. He was simply using your post as a launching off point. He's crazy that way, man. No rules. So replying to him with the specific facts about a certain movie completely misses the mark. Next you'll start correcting his grammar or something.

At least GGG came up with one amusing (to me) sock. What's your track record on the front?

I believe I created a whole new genre of sock that was arguably initiated by the single most inspired sock ever- now, of course that's just my subjective opinion.

And DC. It was doomed by Keith Jackson during the rose bowl: "'Emily's Reasons' ... I don't know"

(it game across as far more deadly when he was reading the promo).

The Sports Guy's take:
  • : I just heard they cancelled "Emily's Reasons Why Not" after ONE episode! Please tell me this is Heather Graham's final step toward Cinemax soft-core stardom. This needs to happen!
    -- Dave Sund, Portland, Ore.

SG: I think it's inevitable at this point -- she's a terrible actress and it's only a matter of time. She's one bad business investment away from accepting a role in one of those two-word Cinemax movies where the two words don't really make sense like "Indecent Seduction" or "Sensual Restriction."

But I'm glad you brought this up, because I think the Shannon Elizabeth Corollary applies here: Any time a smoking-hot actress gets naked early in her career, and that nakedness was pretty much the only reason they became famous (like Graham as Rollergirl), then it's only a matter of time before their career goes in the tank. It's almost like there's an expiration date, like with a carton of milk. Look at Shannon Elizabeth after "American Pie" -- where could she possibly go from there? We've already seen her naked and she's a mediocre actress. What's left? Same with Denise Richards in "Wild Things," or even Rebecca DeMornay in "Risky Business." Someone like Charlize Theron can avoid this fate because she can actually act. But if you can't act? You're done. That's why Jessica Alba was so smart not to get naked in "Into the Blue" -- now she can appear in three or four more movies before everyone realizes that she's a terrible actress. And then she'll get naked and that will be that.

(Note: This isn't related to the Sharon Stone Corollary, where a decent, sexy actress whom everyone always liked jump-starts her career with a famous nude scene or graphic sex scene, and then milks another five years and some paychecks out of the subsequent hullabaloo. Just look at what happened to Halle Berry after "Swordfish" and "Monster's Ball." Let's hope this becomes a trend.)

Q: I just saw a picture of Jennifer Love-Hewitt (or does she now go by Jennifer Hewitt? whatever) at the recent Television Critics Association press tour in her obligatory tight, revealing, cleavage-overflowing top. Is there anyone else in Hollywood (or elsewhere, for that matter) who has teased the male population over a longer period of time than her?
    -- Carl, Houston

SG: See? Case in point -- Jennifer Love Hewitt. If she went topless in "Can't Hardly Wait," do you think she would have the "Ghost Whisperer" right now? Of course not. Let's move on.

But they probably won't.
I vote to leave the advertising up permanently.

I like the way you think. Also, very forward-thinking:

"Star magazine says now that Hollywood good girl Jennifer Love Hewitt is seriously considering an offer from Playboy to pose nude because she feels she is losing film roles because of her image. Hewitt has always been very clear that she would never pose naked for any magazine or role, but her career is mired in TV movies and low-rated dramas, and at age 26, the time may finally be right. A source tells Star: "She told me that maybe a sexy magazine layout with her showing her assets might give her a little edgier image and she might be considered for a femme fatale role.""
