It is beyond clear that Iraq no longer had a nuclear program -- or Penske, maybe you think they moved a whole nuclear plant or two across the border to Syria without our noticing? -- at the time when they supposedly were trying to buy yellowcake from Niger, which had none to sell Iraq since it was already spoken for. We know this not least because we have been occupying the country for years now and have access to all sorts of information. So there is no question that Wilson was fundamentally right, and Bush et al. were fundamentally wrong.

The only thing that's left is to argue about whether U.S. and British intel had any plausible reason to be so wrong or not -- i.e., could they have been mistaken, or were they trying to deceive.

Not to worry. Spanky says they all want democracy, and that it's racist of you to say otherwise.

It is funny how when you ascribe certain sentiments to me that you never back it up with a quote. Is it possible that a quote would show your twisting of my words?

As usual you have it backwards. It is the use of the term "all" or some other all-inclusive word that gets you into trouble and can lead to racist comments. If I say that the majority of Arabs don't want democracy, that is not racist. If I say many Arabs want democracy, that is not racist. It is when you say the “Arab world” or the “Arab people” you’re implying that it is something that is genetic or linked to their race. Like they are not genetically inclined to something. But not only is that racist it is just plain stupid to ascribe a certain type of thinking to a whole nationality. For example:

"And the Arab world wants democracy as much as they want a hole in the head.

It is even more racist (and more unintelligent) when you imply that a nationality does not understand a concept (denigrating their intelligence). Such as:

“They don't get it, they don't care to get it."

But then again, I forgot, it is not racist to say they all don’t want democracy (and that they don’t understand it), but it is racist for me to assume that some Arabs might want democracy, or that democracy would be good for them:

"This is no more racist or bigotted than assuming that everyone must want the system we have."

May I suggest some Apricots? It might fix your problem.

My my my. Now Wilson was fundamentally right.

This is like the Dan Rather defense. Regardless of the documents, "the story is true".

That's the problem with conservatives -- they've painted themselves into a corner with their empty, divisive rhetoric, and now they are in a position of hoping -- actually hoping -- that America's sworn enemy had actually acquired nuclear weapons material, and transferred it to another enemy just before the invasion forces arrived.

I suppose you are with the terrorists in this regard.

Yes, but how many murders were there in America this weekend? Why don't you hear that story anywhere?

I don't care to defend every statement Wilson made. As I've said before, I haven't bothered to read his book or anything. But we know now there was no Iraqi nuclear program, and so it's a little odd to hear you guys trying to explain why it was reasonable to think that the Iraqis were trying to buy yellowcake from Niger. The fact is, they weren't.

You seem to forget -- if you think the Iraq war was a mistake, then you are With The Terrorists.

And also, 9/11.

Not all adhere to the Miss Manners view of the "move up" on death.

That, or he's royalty.
