Easy to Read Trash for my Upcoming trip

So, I need some easy-to-read-I'm-not-thinking-Faulkner books for my upcoming trip that still must be sufficiently high brow that I'm not embarassed for passersby to read the name on the cover when I'm waiting at my terminal.

Any suggestions?

Oh, God, yes. We're talking about a totally outrageous paradigm.

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think it's long enough to ride me over during my layover

Thanks, but I'm really looking for one book, not a pile of heavy books with a few words of text on each page....keep the suggestions coming!

Thanks but it's a hardback and it doesn't really look like pleasure reading anyway....though Less might appreciate getting my cliff notes of it.

Yes. The Book of Joe -- buy it via the LawTalkers' Amazon link.

Tom Perrotta's Election (made into an underrated movie starring Ferris Bueller and Reese Witherspoon), Joe College, and Little Children are also quite good.

Finally, if you haven't read Richard Russo, you really should. Nobody's Fool is my favorite, followed closely by Straight Man and Empire Falls.

Enjoy.

MONROE DISAPPOINTED BY SEXUAL ENCOUNTER WITH CRAWFORD

Film legend MARILYN MONROE went to bed with fellow actress JOAN CRAWFORD - but the lesbian sexual experience only reaffirmed her attraction to men.

Monroe left the WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? beauty gasping for more liaisons, much to the SOME LIKE IT HOT star's chagrin.

Monroe described the encounter herself in conversations taped by her psychiatrist DOCTOR RALPH GREENSON, recordings which were obtained by the Los Angeles Times newspaper from former prosecutor JOHN MINER, who helped investigate her death.

Monroe said, "We went to Joan's bedroom... Crawford had a gigantic orgasm and shrieked like a maniac.

"Next time I saw Crawford she wanted another round. I told her straight I didn't much enjoy doing it with a woman."

Damn. I've never seen Joan Crawford look that good.

The miracle of lighting, perhaps?
