Why do you jump to the conclusion that the SS leaked this to Drudge? It said that "top sources" say the SS agent complained. The report also says a reporter was there on the ski run and asked Kerry about it right after it happened.
Why do you jump to the conclusion that the SS leaked this?
Probably for the same reason that you jump to the conclusion that Bush lies all the time.

Or perhaps their reporters actually know what they're writing about.

The IHT says:
"The government's chronology indicates that it was not until the police searched a suspicious white van late on the afternoon of the attacks and discovered an Arabic-language tape and several detonators that investigators began to suspect Islamic militants.
.
At an afternoon press conference, with some information apparently pointing to ETA's culpability and the tape still not translated, Acebes held a news conference and reacted angrily to the suggestion of an Al Qaeda connection. But 90 minutes after the tape had been translated, Acebes appeared at another news conference in which he announced the discovery of the tape. While he still emphasized that ETA remained the chief suspect, Acebes also said that investigators had been ordered to open a "new line of investigation.""
So, they acknowledged it maybe was someone else shortly after translating the tape.
But Drum starts his blog like this:
"BOMBING DECEPTION EVEN WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT?....It's pretty well established by now that José María Aznar's PP party did its best to mislead the Spanish people about who was responsible for last Thursday's bombing . . ."
At least now I know where you got that phrase "it's pretty well established . . ."

I can abhor that particular behavior without making up new, unsupported accusations of even worse behavior. There's no link.
(ETA: I always wanted to say "abhor.")

Good Christ Almighty. I feel the need to say that all I did was read something on the board and, reminded of a well-known joke, posted "hey this is like that joke that all of y'all probably are familiar with." I didn't try to rewrite the joke to sub in Scalia and Cheney. Apparently I committed the unforgivable sin of not tracking down the exact correct wording and the people involved. I remembered that someone famous was involved but, since I wouldn't want to slander that person in case like their grandkid or something was on here and would get traumatized and start insisting either that I'm a warmonger or I harbor terrorists in my spare bedroom, said it might be apocryphal.
I probably should not have skipped lunch.

Now, if this were Bush, and you'd posted it, club would be pointing out that Bush was just using "sumbitch" in a jolly way:
[Bush skiing down hill, Secret Service Guy gets in the way, both take a tumble! SSG helps Bush up]
Bush, grinning and jauntily shaking his fist as SSG: Why yew sumbitch, yew got in mah way! Heh heh, har har [Waves to crowd, yells] No harm done here! [to SSG] Thanks for helpin me up, man. Good job. The American and recently freed Iraqi people are grateful. [Slaps SSG on the back in a manly way and resumes skiing]
Edited to correct spelling. Apparently joking around the other day with someone, the wrong spelling got stuck in my head. Soon I will be calling Pilates Pilots on a regular basis.

You forgot to weave in there Bush's unique pronunciation of the word "nuclear." That is always a knee-slapper!

Polygamy is quite common in the third world and always has been in primitive cultures. The worst part of the story, though, is the 9 year old that was married to a dog to ward off evil.
Religion is so fucking sick. If it ain't some muslim blowing himself up to murder people because the thinks it will lead to him being able to fuck virgins in heaven, it is some freaking Hindu priest marrying a 9 year old to a dog.
People are stoopid. At least those who practice these religions.

I thought that was Reagan? Anyway, trust me, none of the pronunciations I used were unique in any way. I actually tend to turn off teh radio or TV if Bush comes on. I was using the speech habits of the senior partner at my firm. And my former firm. And the firm before that. And my dad's boss. And my mom's boss. And the head of the school board.

I think this is an admirable example of a young man taking personal responsibility for the welfare of his family. Why, he gets her meals to her on time!

I think it is because Dean's pronunciation is just a reflection of a regional accent as opposed to Bush's pronunciation, which is a reflection that he is stupid.

Atticus lesson #126: He posted this for the last sentence. He wanted to see who's reading the articles. Then, he factors that into, to whom he gives credibility.

Americans are such gluttons

Red Lobster to cut back on all-you-can-eat promotions
DES MOINES (DowJonesAP) — Eat all you can at Red Lobster now, those promotions are disappearing.
Darden Restaurants (DRI) said Thursday its Red Lobster chain will cut back on all-you-can-eat promotions, which "spiked traffic but hurt margins."
Last year, an all-you-can-eat crab promotion went awry when diners loaded up on numerous refills that obliterated profit margins.
"We're not going to discontinue them," Chairman and CEO Joe Lee said of such promotions in a conference call.
However, the restaurant company will be "moving more to a once-a-year strategy" which Lee said would mirror a strategy used by Darden's Olive Garden chain.
