Yeah, imagine that. The Dem congress took a whole 3 weeks to pass earmark reform.
Granted, they should have passed it in the early 1990s, before the Rs came in and quadrupled earmarks. But this is hardly an area where Rs look good.

Seriously, dude. The Republicans didn't even consider doing anything about earmarks. How can you complain about the dems missteps on that way to actually passing something?

Apparently Slave thinks that the Rs were better, because they either refused to consider earmark reform at all, or they considered it and killed it quietly (maybe that was the Hastert rule in action: nothing would be voted on unless a majority of Rs -- not just a majority of Congress -- supported it).
Whereas, the bad, evil Dems, after dawdling for like 15 hours or more, ran into -- and then overcame -- some internal opposition.
The Rs, by killing it quietly, ensured that no R ever did anything publicly against earmark reform. So now they can pretend that they wanted it all along.

A Ray of Hope
America may be overwhelmed by an irresponsible cabal of gutless cut and runners, but at least Israel, thank G-d, is still there, fighting the good fight, in the war on evil........
If the world turns "a blind eye now, while ignoring reality... those of us who wish to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power will, down the road, not be left with any choice but to take much more severe steps in the future," he said. Anyone who threatens us, who threatens our existence, must know that we have the determination and capability to defend ourselves, responding with force,...and with all means at our disposal," Olmert said."
Read: We will first strike nuke them.
The Olmert Doctrine!
Bully!
I hereby declare that if Israel first strikes the Islamofacist Regime of the Irani Mullahs, I will convert and move to Israel in common cause with the forces of moral goodness, and in such event I will turn over my moderator status to Hank, RT willing.

I thought you said the NYTimes had said it -- like, the editors. Not just someone they let publish on the op-ed page.
Either way, have at it. But -- For an op-ed piece, you only get a burrito. For an editorial, you get sushi or a churascaria meat-fest.
|
I've spent 15 minutes Googling - I've found plenty of odious op-ed pieces by the likes of Susan Sontag, et al. - but I have been unable to locate any actual NYT article that states what I claimed.
Although I'm probably just looking hard enough, I really don't care. As such, I withdraw lumping the NYT with the HuffPo crowd.
And Sidd does not owe me a burrito - op-eds don't count.

Interesting that the national media is giving tacit acknowledgement to the phenonmenon of Arkancide. Seriously, though, how long can Bill go before he gets busted by the press? And what does she do?
I don't give it until labour day until this issue explodes and she's outta there.

This is Clintonian politics of personal destruction at its finest - the difference being Hillary is probably throwing Bill under a bus.
If Bill goes down now, she can dump him early in the process, forever shedding her of the "cuckolded wife" position, and get a ton of sympathy from men and women everywhere.
And it pre-empts all the "bimbo eruptions" that are soon to be plastered everywhere
Quite brilliant, actually.

- Area drivers will soon be able to fill up with gasoline made from "terror-free oil."
KETV in Omaha reports that a gas station is about to open near 129th and Q streets named Terror Free Oil, and the idea is to offer consumers petroleum products from countries that do not sponsor terror.

Fantastic! Now we just need a way to keep the demand for terror-free oil from affecting the market price for oil from countries that sponsor terrorism, and we'll be all set.

So I have been chatting up some of my pals who are higher up political operatives in the VRWC lately and the word in Operation Sink Hillary, npi, is:
1. At the first sign of a bimbo eruption, corps of young Republican and FedSoc volunteers will swarm any public appearance she is at with small boom boxes and crank out "Stand By Your Man" by Tammy Wynette. there will also be a Wynette/Hillary phottoshoppe campaign; and
2. From here on, operatives will infest and insurge any live web forum and/or personal appaearance she makes and hammer her with the following Q:
Mrs Clinton, On January 27, 1998, you were on the today show on NBC and host, MATT LAUER, asked you the following question: Let me take you and your husband out of this for a second -- Bill and Hillary aren't involved in this story: If an American president had an adulterous liaison in the White House and lied to cover it up, should the American people ask for his resignation? and you responded, Well, they should certainly be concerned about it. and Mr. Lauer followed up by asking, Should they ask for his resignation?, and you responded, Well, I think -- if all that were proven true, I think that would be a very serious offense. That is not going to be proven true. . Based on that histourical exchange, I have a six part question, (i) Given that the hypothetical scenario, which you claimed, in your role as self-proclaimed co-President, would not be proven true, was proven true, why have you never apologised to the American public for your statements? (ii) If you truly believed that this was a "very serious offense", why did you stand silent as to reproaching your co-President publicly for such "very serious offense" and why did you attempt publicly to udnermine the legitimacy of the special prosecutor's office and the impeachment proceedings?, (iii) if you did not truly believe that this was a "very serious offense" why did you lie to the American Public and Mr. Lauer on the Today Show?, (iv) In the future on a going forward basis, do you believe that if an American President blatantly, baldfacedly and/or finger waggingly unequivocably lies to the American public do you think that should be classified as a "very serious offense" or dismissed as a personal choice?, (v) will you lie to the American public as President like your Co-President did?, and (vi) as an self-proclaimed widely acclaimed attorney is perjury before a federal court wrong? Thanks."
Based on what I am hearing from the VRWC leadership, this should be a fun campaign season.
