Good point. Next time, I'll leave it to Hank to be helpful.

I thought it got the sad out of ya?

In an effort to avoid pain to my legs, I might have sat and scooted down using mostly my arms. In theory. Because I doubt I will ever run any race, let alone a marathon.

I nearly cried.
I typically need someone there after a race. I've been told that I am completely out of it and wander around (and attempt to sit down). There have been times when I have been led by the arm b/c I didn't know where to go or what I was supposed to be doing.

The medics almost always ask me if I'm okay after a race - I must look horrible.

I cannot remember the song on there that involves it being OK to make mistakes, but I'm sure there is one. You are welcome. I am tearing, but I think it is an eyeshadow mishap and not related hurt of any kind, sadness or physical pain.

Thanks, but I am asking about flavored black coffee -- not lattes or coffee plus cream or syrup or sugar.

after the race, i remember going to the table where there were liquids, but there was a line, of people's friends mostly, not runners. i was almost pissed and wanted to yell and take cuts, but i lacked the energy.

before I finished, my wife was waiting for me. she said a guy collapses about 20 yards from the finish. a marine starts yelling "C'mon man 20 yards you can do it . finish man!" the marine in his face yelling. the guy crab crawled across the line. Her thought was "and Hank is doing worse than him?"

After finishing, they give you the mylar thing and a medal, take your picture and herd you along. They were passing out bags of stuff (a bagel, an apple, gatorade and something else...) and then herd you further to baggage pickup, a HALF MILE AWAY. Exactly what I want to do when my legs are hurting like never before. I sat down for a bit, but then was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back up, so kept moving.

I didn't make it much further, and started feeling dizzy, so laid down on the grass for a bit off to the side. Happily, they let me into a fenced-off area to lie down and called for a medic (there were others, too, who needed to lie down). One dude they let in was a doctor (at least, he claimed to be), and gave some instructions, and I felt better after a little bit, and after eating some bagel and drinking some sugary gatorade. Apparently my lips were turning blue.

After I got my warm clothes on, I felt much better.

AND NOW I FEEL GRRRRRRREAT!

Damn that Zachary Zugg, helping to break Jennifer Joy's toy!

Maybe I should try this marathon thing. If I feel GRRRRRREAT after an hour or so on the elliptical, I should be like someplace beyond multiorgasmic after a marathon, no?

That's strange. Most races I've been in are very strict about who gets into the post-race refreshments area.

I read this as Jennifer's Joy Toy and thought that Zachary Zugg must be very bad indeed if he tried to break that particular toy.
