I like cosmos -- they're tasty! I can't drink martinis (note: not because I don't like them, they just make me so hammered so quickly that I cannot function.)** I'm not sure how that correlates with one's bedroom experience or lack thereof -- but I've never known you to be shy about proclaiming utterly ridiculous and overly broad statements as irrefutable truths, so I'll just chalk this up to that category.

SATC was cool -- it was "fantasy" in many respects, but most definitely connected to reality on certain levels. I'm not saying it was Proust, or anything particularly highbrow, but did resonate with me and many other women in tangible ways (my husband is similarly disdainful of it -- which, as his matches your evolved view of the world, makes me think there is something ever-so-slightly unsettling and/or threatening about it to men of your ilk -- and that I cannot explain.) I don't think it's that we want to BE those girls, but that aspects of each of them are recognizable in us and others we know. That's all -- it's not really that deep. And as to making decisions about whether a woman is "worth your breath)" based upon whether she enjoys a television show says a lot more about you than about any woman upon whom you would deign to spend your breath.

Now for the bourbon. Ick. If I'm going to intake calories, it's going to be on something I enjoy -- not to impress someone. I don't like bourbon any more. When I was younger and my metabolism was faster, I could drink anything and everything (and did.) However, bourbon has lost its appeal -- it tastes like what I imagine lighter fluid tastes like. My best friend (the one with the problems with the baby-talk guy) is from Kentucky -- and knows from bourbon. She's a real drinker too. She doesn't even like it anymore -- and believe me -- she's is JUST your type (well, from what you have represented about yourself here, anyway). Maybe someone once counseled you that you shouldn't qualify your statements, but when you make such pronouncements you just sound so goofy that no one can get past the ridiculousness to even begin to evaluate what you're saying.

You're welcome for the Herculean effort it took to get through this -- I'm such a peach, I know.
SATC is just, well, gay (Leagl, I struggled to find a more appropriate description, and you know this meant only in its bastardized meaning). It tried too hard to be supercool. Most guys loathed it not because the show was so bad but because it became overhyped and people began emulating it. people who emulated it were embarrassing. I actually had female acquanitances who started talking about Monolo Blanik shoes as a result of the show. I think they owned those shoes pre-SATC, but they started buying more and discussing the coolness of them because of SATC, and that's pretty damn toolish. In that regard, SATC, and the dim masses who idolized/tried to follow it (not people like yourself who just enjoyed it as a show) and subconsciously wanted to be SJP were pretty embarrassing. The other annoying thing was the show really was shallow and overanalytical. I've seen many episodes and would find myself thinking "Just stop overanalyzing and make a fucking decision." My God, how hard can it be to fall in love? For me, it was a no brainer. The switch was flipped and I said "Hey, this will be work, but we get along. Great." When the time came, we got hitched. We fight, we enjoy each other. Next subject. Larry david is funny when he agonizes over silly topics week after week because he has a new topic every seven days. SJP and Co rehashed the same self-analysis nonsense week in week out, and it was boring and self-indulgent. And it made women look dumb and shallow. The last thing I'd find that show was threatening. To the contrary, its a chauvinist's delight - "Look, women are really emotionally fucked up, cloying disasters."

I've drunk it all, and I like the way bourbon makes me feel. And I'm not worred about calories. I also love champagne, red wine and beer, but when I drink to get loaded, I go with the bubbly and/or bourbon. Usually a bubbly lead off followed by bourbon.

So are you pre or post SATC cosmo drinker?

I saw Sam an an advertisement this morning for a local (Maryland DC suburbs area) realtor. I don't watch the show much, but I kind of question the wisdom of that, based on the limited amount I did see of Sam.

Acid is soooooooo 2000.

Studies show that LSD use has dropped dramatically in recent years; in 2003, only 1.9 percent of HS seniors say they've dropped acid.

Quote:
So what explains the LSD drought? The best explanation is a bust, a really big bust. The DEA claims it reduced the LSD supply by "95 percent" with two arrests in rural Kansas in November 2000. Clyde Apperson and William Leonard Pickard were charged with and eventually convicted of possession and conspiracy to distribute LSD. According to court testimony, the DEA seized the largest operable LSD laboratory in agency history, as well as 91 pounds of LSD and precursor compounds for the potential manufacture of nearly 27 pounds more. If you define a dose of LSD as 100 micrograms, Apperson and Pickard had around 400 million hits in stock. At the more common dosage level of 20 micrograms, the two were sitting on 2 billion hits. Apperson got 30 years in prison, and Pickard got two life sentences.
Wow. Were Jerry Garcia not already 5 years in the ground, this news would've done it.

Actually, I don't give a flying fuck about my own image. I have a glass in hand. Its got ice and brown fluid. For all you know, it could be some fruity liquor. I'm making fun of the people who actually portray an image through what they drink or drink something because they saw it on television.

My entire point was making fun of people for thinking about their image. I assure you, my image is rather direct and simple. I look nothing like you'd probably expect and am pretty polite. I just happen to be thinking behind my smile and polite demeanor most of the time "God, what shitheads..."

"You can put couches here and a bar here and there are back rooms over here you can use as back rooms. You can even hire a barge to shoot off fireworks." What? Get out of my way and let me look at the space, jackass. I liked that Amy dissed him, saying Bill was her main comp. He was all flustered and upset like a little bitch. He's getting played. And I like Amy for it.

Did anyone notice how Bill tried to get him to say that he was going to give it to her on the private jet and then went right back to her (after he didn't even say that) to tell her that he did? Brilliant. Drive a little sex-centered wedge between those two and stand back.

I think Troy was very good. And I agree that his simpleton act worked on almost everyone he tried it with. He seemed to almost come through, when some moron like Heidi was leader, at the last minute to almost save the day. Problem is, he is a horrible planner. He thinks well on his feet and he has some backwater charm, but that ain't what's going to run my business.

Amy has brains, charm and focus. If she doesn't win, Trump's an egotistical, big-headed, floppy-haired fool.

Oh...er...wait.

TM

PS - I'm sick of his left-hand-woman who contributes roughly zilch each week. She always seems like she zeros in on one person she wants out and tries to get Trump to concentrate on them. I bet everyone who works for Trump hates her. She's the worst kind of kiss-ass, power monger.

PPS - I miss hating Omarosa. And back she comes!

I dont know that Amy is "playing" Nick bc they are together IRL. Well my info isnt quite as up to the minute as EOs, but they were several weeks back, so she at least is very romantically inclined. Lets not overestimate her wizardry. After all, she is someone with the beautiful name Amelia who prefers to be called the overused, blase moniker Amy. Now, my cousein is named Amy, but that does not mean the name has any merits.

I think Donald wasnt to bang her. He seems real interested in that Nick/Amy relationship when he did not seem real yinterested in the contestants earlier on.

And someone please do something about Carolyn's hair. Serioulsy. Is that supposed to be "corporate" hair? And dont get me started on the makeup and the chin. Kudos to Donald for allowing himself to be seated next to an ugly woman.

She's a good lay. I'm not saying that to kiss her ass and obviously not from experience. You just know it from her writing.

... even though she swills cosmos.

When you begin comparing your husband to Sebby, you have a problem.

Early on I thought SATC was funny. The episode where the slut had a bf with a tiny penis was my intro to the show, and it was hilarious. It was never insightful, I thought -- the attempted insights were trite, obvious at best.

Over the years (and I watched it, on and off, for 2 or 3), the show became less about the funny and more about the "insights," which by that point were not only trite but utterly redundant of the "insights" already offered. The characters stopped being characters and started being caricatures.

Hard to understand why you would think men find the show "threatening" -- I suppose some men are uncomfortable with women who are comfortable with sex, but in truth the women on SATC were so neurotic about relationships and everything else that they were more pathetic than threatening. YMMV, of course, and maybe Mr. Bill really was threatened but that would be sad.

Anyhoo. Sorry for the long and dull post, but I don't watch any reality TV shows and I don't feel like working today, so there ain't much left....

I read in People (I know) that the blonde woman who works for Trump is only 35. I was astounded. She says that people often mistake her for much older and chalked it up to her conservative (read frumpy) attire. I attribute it to her wrinkley face. Now, I'm not a big touter of plastic surgery, but if I looked like that at 35, I'd be tracking down names and credentials of same good cosmetic surgery help.

I have a serious fashion question...I keep seeing lots of people in multi-colored striped shirts....is everyone going to be wearing these this season? I liked the first one I saw, but now I've seen like 30 of them am I'm ready to puke rainbow stripes all over them.
I will. I just bought two - one French Connection, the other one Kenneth Cole. I love them both.

They're filiming In Her Shoes, right? A friend of mine's client just spent two weeks on that set with Cameron Diaz and Shirley McClain. Little old lady actress in her 80s who refused to comment on how Cameron Diaz dresses....
