The best moment of last night's episode, to me, was when Claire stepped forward to pick up the fourth strap on Nate's shroud and helped lower him into the ground. And how come nobody had the sense to banish Maggie from the memorial and the cemetery? It seems like the whole family abandoned Brenda after Nate did. Pretty shoddy treatment.

I had this ahppen a couple of years ago. It can, unfortunately, last days. But here are two things that will help.

First, take a Tylenol too. Don't double up on another pain killer, though. Mix Tylenol with anything, but the others shouldn't be mixed.

Second, do the following exercises (they will hurt, but do them slowly and periodically, and your neck will loosen up. Doing them in the shower really helps.)

1) Rotate your head slowly from side to side, on a single plane, three or four times. Key here is slowly.

2) Tip your head back and then all the way forward, again in one plane, again slowly, again 3 or 4 times.

3) Tip you head side to side slowly, again in the same plane, etc. First exercise is like a record player, the third is like a windshield wiper.

Do these every couple of hours, but especially in the shower. You may find it easier to play with the order. These are difficult at first when you're in pain, but they will help.

Good advice. Years ago, I finally went to a physical therapist after repeated bouts of neck pain. She gave me a bunch of exercises (among them, those described above). I have not had neck pain since. If I feel a little coming on, I do the exercises and it goes away.

sunny, Little Children is a great easy, fun read that no one will look down upon in the airport. I suggested it to b_n_b last summer, but she probably never took my advice. All about middle class, suburban angst. She might relate even more to it now.

I just finished The Way the Crow Flies by Ann-Marie McDonald. It's long but moves quickly, and it's well written and smart -- a perfect beach read. Sort of a murder mystery, set in 1962. The protagonist is an 8 year old girl whose father is in the Royal Canadian Air Force and gets involved in an intelligence matter.

I realize you did, and I appreciate that. That's why I tried to point it out nicely instead of discussing football. But there are only so many ways for people to tell you to get a massage, take a hot shower, and take some drugs. The possibilites for the PTBNL, in contrast, are almost endless.
