We get it. Everyone should compromise every principle they have ever had if they get the chance to cash in. Whether you are a father whose daughter was kidnapped or a pop tart, whore yourself or your family out for the cash. If it wasn't entertainment to start, make whatever traumatic experience you've suffered through entertainment for everyone else. If your life is already entertainment for everyone else, grab as much cash as you can! If you can only make $20 million a year singing and dancing, take off your clothes and make $30! Sure, you already have everything you ever wanted. But you should be able to have 36 of everything you ever wanted. You'd be a fool not to take it all off. You won't ever regret any of it. You'll be rich, rich, rich! Your kids won't be fucked up in the head when they look at photos of mommy (or daddy) taking it off to show everyone in the world that they have no shame. And it doesn't matter if they or you are negatively affected by it because money solves everything. No one with money is unhappy. And surely history proves that women who make themselves sexual objects for cash (and not other reasons) always end up happy and well adjusted. Everyone who doesn't agree with this is a fool.

Hey, hey... no double teaming here. I haven't pointed a poison pen in your direction in a long time.

Paigow, you're correct - I wrote that it was mainly correct that women whom loathed fakers did so out of fear and envy rather athan true righteous objection. That discussion may have been a new low for both you and I on many levels. But I'm sure we'll reach new lows in the future... I certainly will.

Yes, and I have searched for it using various terms so that I can quote correctly but somehow have never ever ever found it and am frustrated (yes, I know, obviously my research skills suck). Hence my generous offer of 30 minutes of undying gratitude.

Edited to add that I would not be frustrated by this, I'm sure, if I only had a good fuck.

Telemarketers' Do Not Call list

I didn't put myself on the do not call list. Talking to telemarketers is way too much fun. I have recently a new way to frustrate them:

I just talk like my buddy The Cheat:

The Cheat "Speaks"
Contains non-offensive sound.

Speaking of, did anyone else watch the HBO Growing Up Rich show last night? I saw parts, but unfortunately missed the beginning where all the kids were introduces, so I only knew Ivanka Trump and the A&P heiress chick. Seemed like a good show. It was a documentary done by someone who apparently has grown up rich himself, he asks a few questions but mainly just lets the kids ramble on. There are also a few interviews that include rich dads giving (kinda warped) fatherly advice. All in all worth catching, if you're interested in that sort of thing. Invanka comes off well. Others, not so much.

Dude, its not like Britney is swearing allegiance to the American Nazi Party or sucking off a mule on national television. She's doing some risque photos. Jesus fuckin Christ... lets show a little sense here. Have you seen these allegedly salacious photos? They're nothing. She's topless but all the naughty bits are covered. By the way, we all know what the human form looks like, so lets dispense with the provincial notion that nudity should be scorned or is cheap and perverted. Just about every supermodel has taken off your clothes for Helmut Newton and nobody calls them whores or sell outs for it. We all know what the equipment looks like, so if someone's offering you a load of dough to tease someone with a few exposed nipples, take the cash and run.

I'll bet next week's pay you had no problem with Halle's shedding her top in Swordfish, right???

I'm not the broken record here. I'm responding to the same broken record played by a peanut gallery of people picking on a dumb little blonde who's made good with the limited assets she has. I say good for Britney. I hope she makes a billion dollars.

Less so now than before they had to give most of the dough to the state, but there again, they have nothing better to do. FWIW, U-turns and radar detectors are perfectly legal in TX.

I'm sure you realize that you will be getting more scenic suggestions in western states than you will for the midwestern states. As far as quaint goes in Indiana, there is a artsy town called Nashville in Brown County south of Indy that has typical artsy town stuff (playhouse, shops, country restaurants). It is also close to (I believe) the only ski slope in Indiana, but that isn't really much of a draw. Southern Indiana and Kentucky are far more pleasant to drive through because of rolling hills, etc. than any part of Ohio or the northern parts of IN. Red river gorge in KY is pretty, but if you've ever done stuff in VA (since you live in DC), that will not be dissimilar enough for it to matter...

There is nothing pretty in the parts of TX you will likely see. Lots of boot shops in Amarillo though, if that is your thing. And TX cops love to pull over out-of-staters driving through. Obviously northern AZ, including the painted desert and the Grand Canyon are must sees. If you have extra time, you might consider driving up to Zion/Arches or some of the other Utah/western Colo parks. They differ from the AZ ones in that they include much more reds/oranges and there are tons of monuments (stand-alone rock formations).
I skimmed his post and didnt realize it was limited to the midwest. I second Pony's point on Nebraska into Eastern Colo. It is jsut the first really wideopen space you see heading west (like around Lincoln as I recall) and there is something vaguely Clint Eastwwod about it. Kinda cool if you are a coaster who hasnt done the drive. Eastern Colo looks the same and the foothills start around west of denver. Amazing stuff. Note that your car will only do about 30mph as you drive up 70 into the rockies even though your foot is all the way down on the pedal, bc your car is gasping for air. Dont push the pedal to the metal in this situation bc you will flood your tank.

As for the midwest. Take a xanax and hit cruise control. Its straight, flat, and once you have seen your first five cornfields, boring. And I actually stopped off at the Reagan library thing that was written about. Ho hum. This part of the country will take you like 35 hours to get through. And you will wish you were going through boxes looking for privileged information. My opinion is to stay as north as possible and try to do South Dakota, and montana which is much more appealing to look at. The black hills, the bad lands, that big mountaint with the presidents faces carved in. Wall DRug. And you would hit Minnesota before SD, so you could go kayaking with Bilmore and potsmoking with PLF

aV: There is nothing more underrated in the history of TV than Sale of the Century. I must have had 50 discussions in college about how much we all missed Sale of the Century. Question: What was the "Sale of the Century Theme Song?" Can you hum it?

Don't bet against Marc:

To conclude: Sale of the Century HAD no theme song. Just some timpani drums.

That is all.

I dont fear your poison pen. You get all cheval and go nuts. Its kinda funny.

What you said was "the board would mainly agree that you are mostly correct" or something. You invoked the board. that was half the humor. THeo ther half being the mainly or mostly correct which is an absolute term. It was a real tour de force. I will have to find this.

There's no fixed route as of yet, but know for general purposes that MapQuest tells me that in my trip from DC to LA, I should pass through PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, OK, TX, NM, AZ, and CA. Suggestions anywhere in the neighborhood are appreciated, and even ones that I can't use (like, say, Maine) would still be nice to hear about.
Since it sounds like you'll be crossing IL to the south along I-70, here are some suggestions down there...

Illinois/St. Louis area:

- Cahokia Mounds National Historic Site: Large former Native American city with numerous burial mounds, including one over 400 feet high. (about 15 mi east of St. Louis on I-70)
- Strip Clubs: The area is one of the country's true meccas for this industry, featuring the original PT's on the IL side of the river.
- Anheuser Busch Brewery - Free tours (may need to set up in advance) and samples.
- Grant's Farm - See the Busch Mansion, the former St. Louis home of Ulysses S. Grant and the Busch family's exotic animal collection. Kind of like Hearst Castle meets the zoo with a beer garden and the Clydesdales. (also may need to set up in advance).
- Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard - Legendary local walk-up stands.

Missouri -

- Branson - Where your grandparents' favorite artists went to die... One of the cheesiest locales on earth, with upwards of 50 theatres inhabited by has-beens and never-weres like the Osmond Brothers, Yakov Smirnoff and Andy Williams and Glen Campbell. Also has an Ozark hillbilly theme park called Silver Dollar City. Located about an hour south of I-44 in SW Mo.
- Any purported Jesse James hideout - Most of them are just utter crap, but make great roadside campy fun... You'll see their ads painted on every old decrepit barn.

That Weil kid need a good beating. I think he tried to sue the filmmaker because he didn't like the way he came off -- like the incorrigible asshole that he is. The fashion heir/model with his high lapels was amusing and a little charming at first, but then got tiresome quickly. I wanted to give the Vanderbilt/Whitney kid a puppy. He had the saddest eyes I have ever seen on someone so young and so rich. I think he's living proof that Sebby is wrong.

Ivanka was a little too finishing school for me, but did come off as much more decent and thoughtful that I would expect, given her DNA.
