I think that is awesome. I am downloading a lot more nostalgic songs as of late. Journey "Don't Stop Believin'," Four Seasons "Oh What a Night" those types of songs.

This recent Dave Matthews download "Live at Radio City, Grace is Gone" [free from Sbux] reminds me of how much I really used to really, really love Dave. There is a certain quality in his voice I like. I've been meaning to see if I Tunes carries the full I-Tunes Dave Matthews library. As of late it did not, but I have not checked recently. I would like Crash into me.

It's my "power song" on my ipod for running. Nike+ is programmed to immediately go to it when I feel the need for an extra push.

It's a great workout song. I also like go to Disco Inferno when my energy is lagging on the elliptical.

My Catholic schoolyard had a raunchy version of that song in circulation. It was 1980 and I don't remember much about it, other than that when she jumps in the shower, it wasn't the blood that started pumping, and there was no mention of the traffic, but I believe the "boss man" makes a later appearance.

Of course, we also had songs about great green gobs of various kinds of guts, and jokes about dead babies and scamps who were implausibly named "Deeper" (this being well before the convenient arrival of Southeast Asians on our shores), so the humor may not translate well to 2007.

Some songs just inspire when working out. Anthem songs and the like also get you going in the morning.

It really just dawned on me why my Ipod is filled with dance/rap/r&b and some rock songs I like to kill two birds with one stone, workout songs and to block out annoying yappers on the train on their cells.

Oh yeah and if peeps from my train are reading this? Your lone-ranger-esqe beauty mask and inflatable ant-pincher pillow is LAME.

"Queen Bitch" was my favorite. Great song for highlighting the absurdity of searching for the "What's the point of this exercise again?" question that rolls through the mind on the walk from the train to the office.

is it a secret you listen to it? I have a few songs on my running shuffle that I wouldn't play out loud, and I'm not saying what they are.

I seem to be the only person in the universe who doesn't like to listen to music while I run. I really don't like not being able to hear what's going on around me.

That said, I am listening to Bob Marley & The Wailers, African Herbsman to be particular, and am finding that it's excellent for the PowerPoint slides I am drafting.

I need to add that! And more disco. ETA for Ty, I don't run, I ellipt. That way I can hold onto the handhold things and shut my eyes and COMPLETELY disconnect, sound and sight.

Frequently when I wake up in the morning I think "I don't WANT to get up." Lately I've been unable to stop myself from immediately going on to "I'm a Toys-R-Us kid." I hope this goes away sometime soon.

I picture "Atticus: The Early Years" as a madcap mix of schoolyard hijinks, nightly study of The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire and other weighty tomes, and unfortunate episodes involving beds and bodily excretions.

Sometimes I listen to the Carpenters when I'm working out. I don't think you can beat that.
