I was about to say the same thing. I have a mix CD in mine that is sort of just taking space. My iPod was playing my running playlist when I turned off my car: Killers, the Faint, Franz Ferdinand, Beyonce, Rob Zombie, Wilco, Prodigy, Bonnie Tyler and Duel of the Fates, among other things.

My work computer is playing the new White Stripes CD. So far so good.

Why would you want to look like a spinster?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Before Sunset.

Makes a great double feature with Shaun of the Dead.

I'd also recommend Vera Drake, which I watched recently. Kind of depressing, but absolutely riveting.

eta I also watched Harry Potter 3, Tupac: Resurrection, Finding Neverland, The Incredibles, My Architect, Being Julia and Vanity Fair. They were all enjoyable but I wouldn't give them as high a recommendation as Vera Drake. Eternal Sunshine is next up, along with The Crime of Padre Amaro.

Jim Carrey and Ethan Hawke? What's wrong with you? Did your dog knock your tivo box onto your head while you were passed out from your two bottles of shiraz?

I ususally find Jim Carrey annoying, but he was very un-Carrey in ES. It's sort of a slave/paigow kinda story.

Where's Bilmore?

I was going to tell a riveting story about how we went to rent kayaks this weekend, but all that was left were canoes, so we had to go canoeing. Riveting.
Bilmore? Where are you?

I actually watched both of these in the fairly recent past and liked them so here's a belated thanks for these recommendations!

And Bubba-Hotep. (I've recommended it before, but I'll do it again.)
Thanks, since I haven't even heard of either of these.

Heh. I saw Eternal Sunshine on a date last summer. Not a good date movie when you just had a relationship end rather painfully.

Thanks for all the recommendations!

Fat Oprah is a warm compassionate woman who talks to normal people and seems very friendly. Skinny Oprah is a vapid ass-kisser. That is my theory - based on some stuff I have seen.

By the way, who the fuck is he to criticize Brooke Shields or anyone for using antidepressants? MYOB.
The Scientologists and the shrinks don't get along well. As wacky as I think Scientology is, I kind of agree with Cruise's defenders who say he's keeping it real as to what he believes in, which is the opposite of smooth and prepackaged. It's not like he's in a position to ban pyschiatry, he's just using his bully pulpit a bit to tell people there are other alternatives.

Tom Cruise is undoubtedly the biggest movie star in the world, based on Q-rating, box office, name recognition, compensation, "power," whatever you want to go on. There's nobody else close.
