The Unshaven Ball, Indeed
From salon.com today - Cary Tennis's column:

Hello, Cary -- I am a 40-year-old single heterosexual woman, living in New York City. Just like thousands of other women I wonder if I will ever find The One, or if I will be a lonely old lady with cats who yells at the neighbors. I know that nowadays, the style for women is to shave their pubic hair, maybe leaving a tiny strip, à la Brazilian wax. I have dated a few men who have asked me to shave my pubic hair. The first time I was asked, I tried it -- why not? I thought -- just to see what it would look like. Well, I am a bit overweight, so it looked like a giant baby's crotch, which grossed me out. It freaked me out even more when the guy liked it. I couldn't stand to see him anymore -- what did he want with a crotch that looked like a baby's? Then of course, when it grew back in, I got all ingrown hairs and it was extremely uncomfortable. Now, when I date someone, if he mentions that maybe I could shave my crotch, I am so horrified that I can't see him anymore. So now I am curious. Do most women do this today? Are there guys who don't mind pubic hair au naturel? Or is this another item for my list of criteria (smart, considerate, financially responsible, not boring, hetero) that will make it nearly impossible for me to find someone? Will I end up a lonely old lady who yells at her neighbors? My Cats Don't Mind Fur

Cary punted it to the readers to respond (I'll check tomorrow for the reader responses, which generally come back with all viewpoints covered (sts)). I figured people here might have some thoughts. A cure for a slow Wednesday afternoon?

That was my sock of mine that posted it. I only retired from socking here. My chris (infirm not myspace) sock will be the reader responding with a response in favour of tiddying up and my voldemort sock will be the reader responding in favour of disco-mittedness.

The cardnial rule is to keep the sides in check. It can be thick, but if its crawling far and wide to the sides, that's a turn off.
But probably not enough of a turn off to not fuck.

I'm sure the answers will depend on the age of the responder. I'm pretty sure, but have no definite proof, that women in their 60's don't really go for the waxing. It's just my assumption. Women in their 20's are probably expected to. In between I guess is a sliding scale.
And in other news, I'm really hoping that Jill or Zayra goes this week. However, I'm sure everone is anxiously awaiting Zayra's new outfit.

You would know if it was the other one because of the punctuation.

It seems like guys in their 20s seem to view bare as the norm (or, the slutty LA-area guys in their 20s I interact with) but not so much with guys in their 30s (or, the slutty LA-area guys in their 30s I interact with). So if she's going for guys her own age, I'm a little surprised -- but then, maybe slutty LA-area guys in their 40s regard it as the norm too. I don't interact with them so much.
ETA meetings/calls all afternoon.
