I'd love to be able to say I did.

Oregon lowered the bar so much that now every other team can do whatever they please, and still respond to criticism "at least it's not as bad as Oregon's uniforms".
Who can argue?

I disagree, it was a bad week of football.
The Giants lost. The Revolution lost. The Revs loss is still too painful to talk about. It's fitting that they are a Boston team. They are like the Red Sox without the Yankees. They come so close, only to lose it at the end by the narrowest of margins.
At least Arsenal won, three beautiful goals, but none by Henry.

once caught Ted Bundy apologized to his victims. it did not result in his avoiding the appropriate sanctions.

More like the Buffalo Bills. A team that can't finish a game after scoring the go-ahead goal in the 113th minute doesn't deserve to win.

Hollywood cult leader/mass murderer?
I sometimes wish I were a grizled fisherman. I'd carry swarthy well.

Fine. Rub it in you bastahd.
The worst thing about that game was having to listen to Bruce Arena. He was horrible. I hope he gets some sort of nasty throat infection so we don't have to listen to him during the next WC, or worse, Copa America next summer.

Speaking of Music
I'm not sure who around here is supposed to be in charge of keeping me up to date on music I should be hearing. Str8 lost all cred with the Sting fan club thing. Manfred? Flower?
Anyway, whoever it is, you're fired. How could you not clue me in to the Hold Steady? Three albums out by the time I figure 'em out on my own? And, conveniently, 2 weeks after they played live here? Fuckers. Letting me down again.
The Hold Steady rock. I like these guys. Buy their records.
Oh, and Flower, if I can find Lifter Puller's records, should I buy them?

I am pretty sure I have posted about this before, but this is not a cut and paste, and it is both appropriate to the current thread and hopefully interesting for the Newbers:
I used to play pool at a bar where there was a somewhat regular crowd of people who hung out by the pool tables, one of whom had a tattoo of a cannabis leaf across his entire face (in addition to multiple other tattoos and piercings). Potential jobs? Hmmm. Editor of High Times? NORML organizer?

I like them. They're not bad. Good, solid stuff.
But sine we're repeating ourselves today, I'll repeat this:
Buy the Black Angels' "Passover." This disc just never gets old. I have to see this fucking band.

Yes, I think. If you like the Hold Steady, I think you will like Lifter Puller, as both bands are largely defined (in my opinion) by Craig Finn's voice and vocal stylings. Lifter Puller had a cult following around here and I thought they were pretty good on record and good live. I think the Hold Steady is a more polished and somewhat more accessible band. (Sorry Ollie, I just saw them and it was a great show. I should have posted about it.) Neither will ever be my favorite band, but I will definitely see the Hold Steady when they come back.

You're just hearing about them now? Wow, the knitting blogs are miles ahead of you on the music front.

I suppose it'd be rubbing it in to say that they were pretty awesome live?

Dead Boy and the Elephant Men - Not bad, but a little overrated.
Jet - The new record, Shine On, lacks the fun AC/DC feel of the old record.
Black Mountain - Odd, but good. Can't figure out what to call it.
Black Crowes - The new "Lost Crowes" discs should have stayed lost.
Black Keys - Their new disc is their old disc, which is the one before that one. Predictable, but solid.
Neil Young and Crazy Horse (Live 1970) - I've only caught snippets of this, but supposedly, it's the holy grail of live NY&CH blistering garage rock. It's not out until tomorrow.
