I don't think sgtclub disagrees with you about Rush, although he probably did think that Nicaragua was a threat to Texas in the 1980s.

On the Rush thing, Bill Simmons on ESPN.com points out that if someone things that black QBs are hyped relative to white QBs, they should only consider the respective treatment of Jake Plummer and Steve McNair. And ESPN.com also has a piece on the Rush thing by Ralph Wiley that's worth reading.

Bite me. Normally you don't foam at the mouth like most of your ilk. Hence, I like reading your posts because of that. The sudden chang to rabidity disturbed me. I am so sorry for expressing concern -- perhaps that's not something people do in anti-la-la land. In any event, my concern is clearly worthless as I'm a liberal moron.

There's a good piece in the NYT about what's wrong with state government in California, but here's the best sentence (and the one before it):

"The initiative process that he championed has contributed to the near-fatal weakening of the legislature, and has created prodigious opportunities for manipulating and mismanaging the state's political business. Legislators have been reduced to diddling uselessly in Sacramento while various interest groups routinely bamboozle the electorate with proliferating ballot initiatives that are poorly written, often contradictory, and nearly always bad law."

Worth the $4.00 for home delivery (less if you get the electron-based version).

It's no "Prussian cheerleader," But I suppose it's okay. Are there coupons in the Sunday version?

Rush couldn't make it in a business where empirical reality with lots of stistics existed to measure against his b.s.

Yep, given the performances of Vick, McNair, Culpepper, Warren Moon, Doug Williams, etc. the media had to pump up Donovan McNabb because they are desperate for some black quarterback to succeed somewhere, some time. Thanks for telling us the straight story, you junkie.
Not sure how Rush entered the discussion. I have repeatedly said on this board the I think Rush was substantively wrong on this issue and that non-sports guys should not be allowed in the booth.

But I guess is easier to change the subject that to argue substance.

No. Because J&R and Gristede's coupons would not do us a whole lot of good out here.

Yom Kippur War II: The Final Battle

Go IDF! GO SHARON!!! Way to score one for the good guys!

I pray that Israel has embarked on a new policy today that whenever there's a terror attack of any kind on Israelis, any time, anywhere, they will strike with massive force against the outlaw thug nations of the Islamo-Arabic heathans. This latest suicide bomber was a whoring demon. The Palis have stooped to the lowest yet. By the by, when was there ever a state called Palestine or an ethnicity of Palistinians? Where do these Palestinians originate from? Hades? Are they just a made up race of dEvIl dOgs?!?! Seriously, I ask one of the pseudo-Arab apologist liberals here if these palistinians are anything but a bunch of nomadic Jordanian and Saudi Arabs with different coloured table clothes for hats?

What arrogant and misguided delusionalism conspires to embolden them to dream of stealing away G-d’s gift of the holy land from the Israelites?

As for Syria, I don’t think anyone except the French and the left wing in the US is weeping today. This is one of the five truly evilest terrorist states in the world, along with Iran, N. Korea, Saudi Arabia and France and all of them should be pay dearly for supporting the death of innocent Israelis. Thankfully W’s administration has come out strongly supporting the smiting down of Syria. Certainly it is only naïve Democrats that think W and Cheney did not bless this mission from the get go. Most of the foreign guns for hire in Iraq are Syrian pigs and Bush knows too well that most of the missing WMDs will be found in Syria. Today’s attack was a welcome prelude to our next mission, Operation Party to Damascus.

Before I go, on this holy eve, I share with you, 2 Samuel 8:6:

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought tribute. So the LORD preserved David wherever he went.

Verily!

For what it may worth, I think the filthy Ayatollah Islamo-Fascists in Iran better get ready to have their "nuclear" plans set back a few centuries. Today’s message was surely meant to resonate in Teheran.

In fact I saw this picture on Reuters (or one of those newsie sites) where a group of Iranians decided to hold an anti-American rally. Since they are illiterate they found a Christian Missionary to help "translate" their demonic slogans to signs. Apparently this was a Christian Missionary with an wry sense of irony.

This reminds me. If you've ever wanted to send pizza to the Israeli Defense Force . . . you can!

From the site: Sending our soldiers pizza at this time provides them a much needed moral boost by demonstrating support from around the world and at the same time providing people outside of Israel with a way to express their solidarity with Israel at this crucial time.

Seems kinda culturally insensitive to send them pizza when the Italians played a pivotal role in the destruction of Jerusalem twice in historical memory. It's like sending a Vietnamese sandwich to John McCain, plus or minus 2,000 years.

Maybe we should send burgers instead.

From the site: Delight our soldiers out in the field with a Hamburger & Cola and your good wishes! Share your feelings with them at this difficult time in a very tangible way. At the same time you are supporting Israeli Burger restaurants hit by the tourist slump.

Sounds like a win-win situation.

Nice gesture. Just remember to hold the bacon* and sausage.
And no deliveries during fasting.

Shalom.

Not to mention that they stole the next big thing and moved it to Rome.

You are a fool and incredibly disrespectful. G-d created tomatoes and pizza dough as well as the Italians who make pizza so well, notwithstanding their misguided worship of a crazed rabble rouser. Eating their food is honouring G-d in all his gustatory glory!

No, shredded/chopped beef originated with the Mongolian Tartars (thus, tartare), who also sacked Jerusalem twice.*

Mind you, there are probably very few food-exporting countries that have not done wrong to Jerusalem at some point --- this is one of the drawbacks to having a famously long historical memory and a 5,000 year old religion.

*If it qualifies as Chinese food, all serious argument regarding potential rejection by Jews ends entirely, of course.

Save Bilmore! Free Bilmore! Let Bilmore go!

More on the vast_left_wing_conspiracy we were just talking about?

http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/10/03/ch....ap/index.html

(Spree: One of the righteous ones gets nabbed in Minnesota)

Representative quote:
"The head of the Minnesota Republican Party has been indicted by a grand jury for an alleged improper corporate campaign contribution, his lawyer said.

Chairman [Bilmore?] was charged with four gross misdemeanor criminal counts, his lawyer, Bill Mauzy, said Thursday.

Mauzy said there was no basis for the indictment and that he would move immediately to have the charges dismissed. "There is no crime here," he said. "We have a runaway grand jury."

[Bilmore?] called the indictment "preposterous."

Hello
