Hey, now that Hussein has been charged by Iraq, can we get him in the pool?

Perhaps the options should be different:

1) Loses head before trial
2) Loses head during trial
3) Loses head after trial
4) released on own recognizance and loses head.

Sounds good. Should we hand out extra credit if he gets skullfucked too?

Less is going to Iraq? Who knew? Wonder if there'd be much friction...

A new one for the list.

I had heard rumblings about this, but NBA Hall-of-Famer Calvin Murphy was indicted for 6 counts of sexual abuse. Five of his daughters initially made the allegations against Murphy back in March. Very sad.

Prosecutors in the Kobe Bryant case reportedly are planning to make an aggressive move to regain momentum in the case, a move that could even drag former Bryant teammate Shaquille O'Neal into court.

Sports Illustrated has reported that prosecutors will subpoena a 22-year-old Florida woman who claims Bryant made unwanted sexual advances toward her during a 2002 Thanksgiving party hosted at O'Neal's home.

Alas, no one picked "charges dropped" for this one. Based on the information in the now-released transcripts, it does seem like something of an uphill case (NY Times article), at least to the extent that evidence that the accuser had sex after the alleged rape and before the report to police might undermine the claim that her injuries were a result of sex that was (1) non-consensual and (2) with Kobe Bryant.

Anyone want to handicap this one? My gut says "guilty," but I lost a bottle of whiskey on an OJ bet. Once bitten, twice shy.

I'll defer until we hear more about the "reliable citizen witness" from the psychiatric ward. And I'd like a picture (see post on other board).

Yeah, but she's going to file a civil suit, you can bet.

Because the same evidence won't come out there?

Question: Does the rape shield law apply to civil suits?

I have no idea. But there's a lot more upside for her in a civil suit, don't you think? I smell settlement.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the State that decides whether or not to pursue a criminal case?

I think the concern is that compelling testimony from your principle witness is particularly dicey.
