Fight the resolution. The Neg can't run a topical counter-plan in a Hypo Testing paradigm without proving the hypo.*
*If you don't get this, it means you were probably in Band in HS. Or a band. To my mind, the only difference was the costume you were required to wear.

My HS had neither a band nor a debating team. Too Small.
But I was banned. But that's a story for another day. Thanks for asking.

Whack heard round the world
The 10 year anniversary of figure skating's most famous whack.
“Skating was big, it was around. But this incident, Kerrigan-Harding, the whack was heard around the world,” said Tom Collins, creator of the Champions on Ice tour that features most of the Olympic medalists.
“It was an international event ... and it changed skating like nothing ever has.”
Harding, still the only U.S. woman to land a triple axel in competition, was the 1991 national champion and a medals contender at the 1994 Olympics.

Banned from skating forever, I guess she's the Pete Rose of ice skating. You've gotta give her credit for creativity.

Two women -- one with a ticket, one tearfully without -- lay claim to a $162 million lottery jackpot Tuesday, triggering a legal dispute that could come down to "finder's keepers" or fraud.
Elecia Battle (search) went to police Monday with the teary story of a lottery ticket lost outside a convenience store, and a small crowd with flashlights soon gathered in the snowy parking lot in search of the precious paper scrap.
Tuesday morning, Rebecca Jemison (search) said Battle's claim prompted her to quit stalling, submit her ticket and collect the prize from the Dec. 30 drawing.
"I was angry at first, but not worried at all," said Jemison, 34. "I knew what I possessed."
Police, who originally said Battle, 40, had told a credible story about losing the winning ticket, are now investigating whether she lied in a police report, a misdemeanor punishable by 30 days to six months in jail.
Jemison turned in the ticket for the 11-state Mega Millions (search) jackpot at Ohio Lottery headquarters. The lottery validated it Tuesday as the sole winning ticket for the drawing and Ohio Lottery Director Dennis Kennedy said the lottery is confident Jemison bought the ticket, not found it.
As proof, Jemison provided another ticket purchased at the same time and place as the winning ticket and had an outdated lottery ticket that showed she had played the same numbers in the prior drawing, Kennedy said.
Battle immediately filed suit Tuesday seeking to halt any payout to the winner.

but the "loser" is posing in photos like she is angling for a TV movie as a back up if the whole lawsuit thing doesn't help....

those who know me from Politics know that "integrity" is a word that is sacred to me; they know when I promise- it happens. so trust me when i tell you this:
In a country where a commercial where a football player tossing his jersy to a kid turns into a TV movie, and a disneyland ride turns ino a feature movie, Ms. Battle can, and will, sell her story as a TV movie. As to your moral questions, lottery tickets are the intelligent opiate of the masses.

I'm surprised that family of survivors are opposed to the design as being "too sterile" and "didn't communicate the enormity." What were they hoping for, bloody cadavers strewn about?

I doubt there is anything that would make people who lost people on the 11th happy. Nothing could ever be enough. Nothing can communicate the enormity. That will have to come from inside the people who visit it. I think for something of this magnitude, simple is better.
