Why? What happened to her? All the stuff I can think of happening from a coke overdose wouldn't fuck up a body as much as it as to be fucked up to prevent them from making it pretty post-mortem. Of course, I base most of this on 6FU, but it seems accurate enough. The rest is based on my own experience looking at dead people, which has also suggested that morticians (or whatever the appropriate term for them today) are pretty skilled cats.

Why? Its not like she was kicked in the face by a horse. Did she do so much that she turned into a skeleton?

It was weird. Her face was all kind of bloated and deformed. I am not sure why that happened - whether it was the way she died or just bad embalming or whatever it is they do.
eta I should also note that I have only seen one open casket and it was her. Maybe all open caskets are weird-looking (more so than you see on tv).

After you insert the gerbil - after its been soaked and rolled in blow - do the gerbil's violent convulsions result from the gerbil suffocating, or from the gerbil getting whalloped with a massive hit of coke through its skin?
I imagine it take very little coke to OD a gerbil.

Lucky you.
Everyone looks terrible and nothing like they did in real life - probably because they are dead.
When my best friend died last year, we were mortified by how "different" he looked.
Open caskets do help with closure, though.

I've seen two open caskets (my dad, who died of cancer at 45, and my friend who died of AIDS last year at 38). In both cases, they were not bloated, but the facial skin took on a rather waxy appearance (and all wrinkles are gone, making people look younger than they looked when alive). Open casket is creepy I think because it reminds me of taxidermy and it feels to me like you are looking at some stuffed person. It can be helpful for people dealing with the "I can't believe that person really died" syndrome though.

If anything, people look more gaunt than bloated. And why do people insist on these open casket things? I hate them.

1. I agree. Embalming makes the person look very strange so that they barely resemble the living person.
2. I can't imagine you intended that pun.
3. I disagree, unless by closure you mean accepting that the living person is really gone.
I don't know if there are religious imperatives for having an open casket, but unless there are, I disagree with any other rationales for doing it. I don't want that to be my last memory of someone I love, or for it to be my loved ones' last memory of me. I think this is true even where a person has died after an illness that altered his or her appearance, because that's at least real and natural rather than surreal and totally unnatural.
Plus, embalming is one thing, but spiffing up a dead person to make his or her final social appearance is fucked up. Of course, people make these decisions in a time of grief, so it's not as if a whole lot of rational thought goes into the whole shindig. Fucking funeral industry. What a racket.

Tell me when you see the color of their panties.
And, if we must go out, let's make it in a blaze of glory. I don't want them describing me as "waxy" after I'm gone.

Excellent thoughts to bring to a close another wonderful day.
I am being cremated and mixed into pies out of which people will be required to eat a slice in order to get any share in my estate.

It's better than them describing you as "slimy" like they do now.
Oh wait, I have you mixed up with someone else.
It is still a very nice day out.

That's just crazy talk. You should have them made into cupcakes instead.
